Default Shifter replacement suggestions

I have the factory "short shifter" and I honestly don't like it. God only knows how bad the standard shifter is. In any event, what would you guys recommend for a replacement? I have to believe there is something better out there.

Kartboy short shifter, you will not be disappointed. It's great. I also suggest some of the TIC bushings.

What I dislike the most is the "play" in the shifter while it is in gear. Is that because of the bushings?

Also, where is the best place to buy off the internet and is this a DIY mod (I did the shifter in my old Mustang with ease, but no bushings)?

if you don't mind the current stance of the shifter, just change the bushings and call it a day. I had Kartboy SS with all the bushings and couldn't stand all the rattles that came with it. Since it's biatch to change out the bushings, I just switched back to OEM short shifter. Some of the major rattles are gone but since bushings are still in, there are still some rattles

The stance doesn't thrill me, but I can live with it. My biggest ***** is the wiggle of the shifter while in gear. I like the shifter to be tight, like the one in my Z06. If just bushings will solve that, maybe that is the route I will go.

Where to buy?????

Bushings will tighten the shifter. TurninConcepts has a "holy shift" bundle you might look at. I have a COBB double adjustable short shifter with the bushings. Virtually no slop and almost no noise.

I might go with the TiC Holy Shift Set. Hopefully this will eliminate the slop. How hard is it to install? Anyone?

All but one set of bushings are pretty easy. One particular set is a complete *****. Even so, with 3/4 f those bushings in, the slop will decrease dramatically.

Yeah - what they all said.

It still won't be like your z06, but it'll help.

Thanks - I am going to do it. It is such a fun car, but I hate the shifter. Going from my Z06 to the STI is painful because of it. I can deal with the less power, but something as simple as a tight shifter shouldn't ruin the experience.

there are so many shifter related bushings on the TIC website, are they all necessary?

I mean the cobb or kartboy bushings seem to be just a couple bushings instead of 10 lol.

They don't make all of what we do. We are the only ones who offer the pivot and linkage bushings. THe 06+ holy **** set will get you all the bushings you need and get rid of that slop for you. That's what I run in my 08 sti (still have the stock lever) and love it. No slop and very solid feeling. I have driven a few Z06's and like this feeling better, but that's just me.

Great mod. A bit of a pain, but if you have some time, patience, and a little mechanical ability, you'll be set. Night and day difference with the bushings + shifter. Plus, I have found that you can alter the feel (tightness) of the shifter by adjusting the pivot bolt torque.

ya I plan on buying it and just keeping the stock shifter for the time being, just want to make sure if all the extras in that HOLY **** kit are worth the extra money.
