Default Dccd Woes!

All,

I am new to this forum, I have a 03 STI now the weird thing is I think my car was a Knocked down unit, and due to this the car has the DCCD and no Controller for inside the car and my mechanic tells me that there is no wiring in the car either.

The dccd now seems to switch from auto to the blinking 0 any time it feels like like it is possesed.

Are there ways to disable the dccd electronically as I highly doubt that I can get a new controller here easily.

Can I pull a fuse or something right now the car is working fine in a straight line, unfortunately with the diffs locked in 35-65 turning corners is frightening as loud noises come from all the axles.

Please help I will take any suggestions.

Tough one...I dont know much about pre 04's...but it sounds like you need a new DCCD controler. If you are nice enough you might be able to befriend someone...paypal them...and have them buy one and ship it to you. Granted not easy but sounds like you live in the jungle or something?

I live in Trinidad, it is not really the jungle, it is just parts can be completely outrageous, I am actually thinking about removing the dccd and installing a LSD, a friend of mine is taking a look tomorrow to see if he can disable the DCCD from the computer as he has done this for some of the 01-02 models.

Or the other thing is to buy the contorller and gt my hands ona wiring diagram and wire it up myself..

Im pretty sure if you disable the DCCD it should go to the fully open mode. That would be the first route I would try.

it does go to full open mode when you disconnect the dccd, its a failsafe where if ABS has problems it goes to full open as well.

Update.

Disconnected the ABS today, no change.

However found the switches for the DCCD below the console all connected nicely don't know why there were not in the center console where they should have been though, they only work if the ignition is on I can select between AUTO and lock and scroll up and down the controlls with no problems, however the diffs now seem to be binding up on really slow corners. So I am not driving the car anymore.

Plugged in the reader and scanned the car recieved a error code which is 44 – A ABS controller AT controler no controller

A friend of mine says he has a spare DCCD Controller and is willing to let me try that tomorrow.

Can anyone suggest anything else that may help, right now I am thinking about giving the car back to the guy I bought it from and cutting my losses.

thanks again.

you didn't say on what setting the DCCD is in when it's binding, or if it's all of them, but in manual the diff will bind up on low speed turns.
you did reconnect the ABS too, right?

good luck

I have problems with my DCCD as well. When the DCCD is in auto it feels like its lurching under acceleration. If i turn it to manual the car is fine, no lurch. In auto under low speed turns sometimes I feel/hear a clunk. Do i need a new controller? Should I just disable it all together and call it a day?
