Default Grinding Noise at Idle on a 04 STi !

When I'm at idle there is a grinding noise with the clutch out " not touching the pedal " but as soon as I depress the pedal it goes away . Let off the pedal it comes back . I recently just had the clutch changed out to a act hd with streetlite flywheel . Now before you say thats the problem , I have had the same Exact problem before the clutch job . I had the dealer to the clutch job with the timing belt 105K service . Had the dealer give me all the parts that came off the car back from the clutch job . The only thing they didn't put in the box was the Throw Out Bearing . Yes my new clutch kit came with a new throw out bearing , so now i'm thinking they didn't even change it . The dealer said they did change it since the stock bearing won't fit on the act clutch " smells like bs " .

what do yall think ?

Have no idea about the sound on your car.
Does sound like T/O bearing but you said it was there before the clutch job.

When I had my clutch replaced the old t/o bearing was stuck inside the old clutch.
The TO bearing is the centre round piece with 2 legs in the picture (sorry cheap phone pic).
May be you could check whether its the same case for you.

Sorry can't be of much help.

the mechanic actually took the time and removed the old throw out bearing from the old pressure plate . that was the only part i didn't get back . guess the mechanic is treating me like i don't know what i'm talking about . only reason i didn't install it myself was i didn't want to do it on the gravel driveway like the last clutch jobs i have done there .

Could it be gear noise or input shaft related ?

What oil is in the gearbox?
