^^sounds good man, i'm gonna get one also some time soon, i just want to do one top speed run in my car at 160+mph first (to see what it's like), then i'll buy one, cause i know the alum ds is only tested/rated at 150mph.

i some some input:
besides all the pounding, hacking, grinding, melting and cutting we also had a god-awful harmonic issue at 60 mph. the driveshaft was returned to dss for a rebalancing and it is working fine now. we also added dss axle bars.

this is not a mod for the feint of heart or anyone who ever hopes to sell their car.

on the contrary - i beg to differ!!! i had to do only minor modifications to mine - a bump here, a pound there... there was only a bit of grinding at the rear cross-member, and thats it - only 1.5-2hours, max.

btw, when did you buy your driveshaft? i bough mine in late march of this year, installed it mid-april, haven't had any problems since. either i got lucky or DSS figured that making proper driveshafts is cheaper than shipping and rebalancing it several times

btw, how is your driveshaft doing? i heard you are running some serious numbers on that Cutting Edge. i bet that dogbox you're running is really helping this driveshaft!

Personally I'm surpirsed it fits. We have had soooo many issues with DSS we won't deal with them any longer. Every part I have ever seen from them is ill fitting and designed incorrectly.

i never said it took long, just that it involved pounding, hacking, grinding, melting and cutting (isfh)

we installed it two years ago. i drove it once in calender year 2007. about 450 total miles with the driveshaft properly balanced. it's pretty inconspicuous.

the entire driveline is nutz. it'll be a while before we have numbers. with the n202 running it shouldn't be too shabby.

yeah, so i've heard. i wouldn't say i like the company either - but you get for what you pay! you gotta admit, this piece is pretty cheap. not to say that that's the only good thing about it, lol!

cutting rotational mass of perhaps the lifeline to rear wheel drive by ~20 lbs is a good thing also (stock DS weighs 31 lbs, this one is 11.5). this 'frees up' horsepower DIRECTLY because the DS is in constant velocity - as long as the wheels are spinning, the DS is spinning. so you always have 20 pounds less to rotate! since drivetrain loss is a percentage, the higher your horsepower, more horsepower is preserved due to less rotational mass.

but honestly, most of the people that have had problems with DSS had them 1 or more years ago. then again, maybe I just got lucky....

and aluminium does fatigue over time - but thats the result of preserving other drivetrain parts because of how well this DS absorbs impact due to twisting (anyone who read ads for this item knows that this DS twists 4 times more than the stock DS).

personally, i'd rather throw out an extra 450 bucks for another DS than 4500 bucks for another tranny. (purely my opinion, not fact).

damn, thats long... sorry, had to get it out there

well let me tell you - i really wouldnt recommend doing above 150mph with the alum on. I ve just tried it and at 150 mph, it vribrates so badly that you wouldn't even want to go faster ! this is no surprise - the stock has likage to the frame in the middle, since the DS itself is divided into two, while the aluminium, being 1-piece, doesnt.

if you're into high-speed, i suggest the ACPT, or better - stock.

Front Range Driveline in Colorado. Built me an aluminum DS, and I only had to do minor trimming to the rear crossmember, everywhere else fits great. Those guys are awesome. Price was right too. BTW mine weighs 11 lbs.

Well My driveshaft does not vibrate or rattle at 150+ and yes i know from experience. Smooth as glass from 0-162 actually
