Thumbs up Help Me CHoose Clutch (POLL) Plz!!!

Alright guys, ive been reading for about an hour now about clutchs for an sti. Recently my car started to slip in 5/6 gear so now i know its time for a new clutch.

this is my current setup

Invidia g200
K&n typhoon
Titek down pipe
(stage 2)

But soon i will be getting a lot more supporting mods on my quest to max the stock turbo and then get something bigger next year sz49/20g/fp green (undecided). My goal overall is to reach close to 380-400whp with supporting mods.

But anyways i would like honest opinions on clutches and there realizability.

Current i drive my sti DD but wont be soon, this car will be facing a good amount of launches and auto x.

I have come down to 4 different clutches i am interested and would like other peoples feedback to make my decision.

I have been driving on the 6 puck nonspring act clutch for about 2 years, i love it but the problem with it is that its backordered from the factory and will take you a month to get it.

If you dont want such a harsh setup i suggest the sprung version. good luck making your decision

If I were you I would stay away from that Exedy Stage 2 ceramic kit; its a 3-puck, not as strong a clutch as the ACT or RPS organic disk clutches, less surface area than a 6-puck so it will wear out more quickly...stay away.

I have been on a RPS clutch with the Street Max series pressure plate for about the same amount of time as kitsune, I have ~49k miles now, but am not at the power that you are projecting to be. The clutch will be substantial enough for that projected power though. Since you are going to be putting a good amount of track time and abuse on the clutch, you might want to lean towards either an ACT or RPS 6-puck; but remember that every puck clutch will wear faster than a disk and a disk will perform just as well with your application.

RPS StreetMax or ACT Street. Both are great, solid plate, sprung clutches that will handle that easily (IINM, both are rated for 500 ft/lbs at the crank) and still drive almost like the OEM clutch. A multi-puck clutch is waay more than you need, and the drivablility is not as good.

I second staying away from the Exedy Stage 2. I had one fail at only 12K, and it was never launched or slipped hard. It was simply gone - worn down to the rivets.
