Default Problem with my 2008 wrx sti transmission...

I just purchased a Brand new 2008wrx sti, unfortunally on my way home I did notice that the second gear was coming out of engagement,I drove the car for a couple of day but the problem persist,I brought my car back to the dealer (350 miles on odometer)and after an inspection they found out that the transmission indeed was defective they also mention that the early production STI are all having trouble with the transmission ,fortunally the dealer installed an updated transmission for me, Now... I can enjoy myself driving this awesome car.

10-4 on the noisy. Mine's the same way. No problems with it though. Pulls hard.

My car has popped out of gear a couple times, but only when it's cold out and I'm going very slowly - didn't seem like anything out of the ordinary though, and twice in 5500 miles doesn't worry me. Guessing the TiC/Kartboy kit will help

no problems here... i guess this is just the bad apples from subaru. as long as they come forward and fix/correct the problems free of charge i have no problems at all.

Popping out once is not ordinary. As the OP said, Subaru dealer mentioned "early production STI are all having trouble with the transmission ". Plz take it in before it's too late.

Need to get it checked out to be safe - why take a chance on a beautiful new investment?

wow........I am not sure what to think about when i see these kinds of threads get posted on the 08's.....I surely hope that subaru does not continue this trend as it will not end well for them. After seeing all the problems, this and the production problem with the motor for instance, makes me really think twice about getting a 08 if I were in the market for a new vehicle. To me it seems as if all the problems started with the 07 in the respect of the engine tune issues and it seems to have been getting worse as the production continues with the 08's.

I agree with the post above in the fact that you shouldnt rely on a aftermaket part to resolve a manufacture defect on the product. Take it to the dealership and have them repair the issue so this way you will be less likely to run into any other issues with the tranyn further down the road.
