How long does transmission oil/gear oil last when stored?

I'm looking to purchase a 5 gallon drum of transmission fluid. I want to use it for transmission fluid changes for the life of the car (please don't ask why I want to do this), but I'm not sure if transmission fluid breaks down over time when stored like motor oil. I'll be changing the transmission fluid every 15-20k miles which takes me roughly 1.5 years to reach.

Can transmission fluid be stored and still be usable after 2, 4 or even 6 years? Keep in mind that it will be in a five gallon drum like you can buy at most auto parts stores; I believe the containers are resealable.

Yes, sir! You sure can, I have a drum of gear oil from the 90's, and I have been using it im my truck ever since and I have no problems.
