Default Clutch choice?

Say im running a gt65 kit with hydra+hyrdamist+supporting mods+ built bottom end. i will be in 500-550 whp area. the car will be daily driven, but will aslo see many track days. Question: would you go with an ACT 6-puck, or an exedy twin-plate? thanks!

Depends on whether or not you would rather replace a $1600 clutch or a $700 clutch when it wears out. What kind of track?

^^ You can replace the plates on a TP for about $800, so a rebuild is pretty much a toss up. 500# of torque (crank) is the rated limit for a TP, but it is a much better street clutch. I dunno, amigo...at that power level you're kind of in no-man's land insofar as a "street clutch" is concerned.

True, but whenever you replace the clutch disks its a very good idea to have a new surface on the pressure plate. If the car is going to be tracked, the pressure plate surface is going to get as abused as the flywheel, which should also have a new surface for proper contact with the clutch disks. If you want to go with your same line of thought, replacing a puck disk is $400.
