I have used lock...I use it when traction is limited when it is raining. That said I typically use a setting or two below full lock when wet. Usually I use auto though under normal conditions.

The problem with lock is you tend to plow into corners. Its hard to get rotation under full lock...at least with my 04.

When you say "full lock", do you mean full forward, in manual control? If so, I bet it does understeer like a mofo. I've only tried that in deep snow - it turns the car into a friggin' plow. I dunno - I usually drive in auto, but full rear balances the car out well too, and reduces a little bit of the front end corner exit pull we get in the '04.

Yes, manual full foreward...ive used in in autox It does help in really really tight courses or when it is raining, but typically I wont go full lock (foreward)...usually a step or two down from full lock. However, 90% of the time I am in auto.

I've been playing around with the DCCD a bit during last years AutoX's. I've read and heard from many people online "Keep it in Auto..its the best"

Well i did...for about 1/2 a season...car handled well but she would understear bad.

Just for fun I threw it in the 3rd from the rear and was pulling better times...like seconds. I could get the rear end to pull around easier and I felt I had more control...rather then letting the car distribute the power.

From now I'm keeping the DCCD in manual...at least I was able to make use of it more.

This was all on stock suspension also...the DCCD will react WAY different when you have sways, springs etc... Just play around with it.

I know some of the more heavily suspension modded STI's by me will keep it in 4 or 5 from the bottom and pull some impressive times. But its hard to compare any times in AutoX as its mostly driver skill.

Full Lock on 4wd in situations where grip is good can tear up your dif's.

I would say that it depends on your camber settings. When I had mine stock and went autocrossing I had about -0.5 degrees of camber in the front. I was about 1.5 seconds faster on a 45sec course when I put it all the way to the rear as opposed to Auto. The car just rotated significantly better.

However, since I started tracking my car and runing -2 or more degrees of camber in the front, my car rotates a bit too much in some corners with the diff all the way back. I still pull faster times than Auto but the car is scary to drive in some corners and is not as easy to drift our of the corner since it is AWD. I don't like sliding it anyways because it is slower but the Auto setting just kills me in EVERY corner.

Ive done it many times and have had no problems for near 70,000miles. Then again I have a surtrack front diff...certanly the stronger than the 05+'s.

Interesting...it does matter w/ regard to your setting...driver difference etc. I know a guy at my local EESCC that is the exact same way. Says auto sucks and eats up his times. He runs fully rear.

I may experiment around with it a little more this year.

Good idea. Varying the torque split makes a big difference, and depending on driving style and set-up, you'll probably find one setting that works better than the rest.

i've been autocrossing with it in full lock on wider sweeping courses. on tighter stuff where you start thinking "maybe i CAN get it into first..." even though you never will, auto seems to work better. i'm on street tires
