Not even close...a 120 lbs of deerburger going up and over the car is a truly spectacular way to end the drive. I've had two hits, one recent in the STi ($4K to fix), but that was not the worst:

12 years ago I was riding shotgun in a friend's RX7 convertible, driving back from a summer's day of fishing about 100 miles east of Bend, top down at night. We were closing in on a semi who was cruising along @ 75mph, when the truck suddenly started swerving in front of us. Bam, we were right in the middle of about 20 deer - still doing about 70 mph. When my buddy finally got it stopped, we turned and looked at each other - we were both covered in blood, crap, glass, and hair, and what was left of one of the does was still in the back seat, part of it having come thru the windshield right between us. I thought he was dead, and vice-versa; amazingly, neither of us had a scratch. Behind us was total carnage...dead and wounded deer everywhere. The car looked like it it taken a few direct RPG hits, but it still worked, so we cleaned up as best we could and limped into town. It was a really bum deal. Close to $12K worth of damage to his car, but we lived to tell the tale. Sheer, dumb luck.

Deer spook me - they are the dumbest animals around, and their sense of timing is simply impeccable: they wait until the very last second and then run right out in front of you...usually from behind a tree. The latest hit ocurred on a residential street and we were only going about 35 mph - the doe literally jumped out from behind a stand of trees and landed about 1 foot in front of the car. I didn't even have enough time to freaking blink.

Let's just say that they dampen my enthusiam for night time driving where I live.

my first day on the rps 6 puck was in 5 miles of bumper to bumper crawl through westchester. no problem.

my best deer story:
new years eve at dusk a herd of deer jump in front of my car. i hit two and kill one. 6 hours later, hil and i are headed to a another party and she's driving. she hits and kills another one. same night. same car, two different drivers, 3 deer.

...there's no reason to impose snobish regionalism into the conversation by insulting our deer, fly.

at bruce and kirk.

FWIW, my wife drove my Exedy twin plate in L.A traffic and she loved it. (in fact, the woman is driving my car right now )

Once I figured out the Exedy "quirk" I am all for this clutch and love every second of it. BTW, my wife wants one for her 99hp civic

Yeah, I'm about ready to "de-quirk" mine again, not to mention turn the boost controller back on...we're finally starting to see a little dry pavement. It's been a slick 6 weeks.

I just did it this morning - it took about 5 hard pulls (3 at 1.3 bar, then 2 at 1.75 bar) to clean all the cold start oil and carbon out. Ahhhh, steam cleaned pistons and valves...ummmm.

Damn - this car is more silly than I remembered.

Maybe that's my problem- perhaps I've never figured out the Exedy's quirks?
How does one "de-quirk" the Hyper Twin?
Dragstrip launches?

I cant wait to try out my exedy twin disk. I installed it in January but I have not driven the car yet since its put away for the winter (no insurance, RE070s, etc). Hopefully we will have a nice day soon.

The car is on jack stands and I have tested the clutch and friction point. The clicking really isn't any big deal. I was prepared for the car to sound like it was coming apart but in reality, its really faint, intermittent and hardly noticeable over the exhaust (Cobb w/high flow cat).

What Modaddict and I both think is that they build up dust between the plates, causing hot spots which then leads to pretty heavy duty low rpm take up shudder. Additionally, the throw is a little spongy during break-in. All it takes is a few hard slip launches to both wipe the plates and seat it in. The clutch feel will change dramatically, and the shudder goes away until you get more dust build up - so you just launch it again and you're good to go for a while.

The point is the TP likes to be beat on ocassionally.

yes, just launch the damn thing once in awhile and the clutch will thank you. the chatter/shudder on takeoff goes away, along with (my) hard to get into 1st gear. It's really amazing what a little slippage will do.

I love my TP.
