Default little help please...

ok here goes, I have an 06 sti and ever since it got cold out at start up (first thing in the am) the car makes a humming noise and gets louder when you turn the steering wheel. my first thought was power steering fluid but not the case. so I contacted my dealer and they told me sti's make funny noises when it gets cold. well now that its colder then usual out the humming noise is happening under normal operational temperature and now when you turn the steering wheel it feels like the wheels are hopping off the ground. pump going bad maybe? or maybe the belt that powers the pump? I'm lost and any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks, derek

weird...tough to diagnose just from your description. Makes the humming noises while your stopped / idling / warming up??

pump wouldn't make the wheels feel like they were bouncing, it would just make it harder to turn as it went south.

Maybe a little more description of the problem?? If the car is now doing it under normal driving conditions, i'd bring it in...if they can't find the problem, demand to have the sales manager drive your car, then an STi on the lot, and see if they make the same noise. If they don't, then its on the dealership to fix it.
