Default Heard of clicking, sounds like more of a crunch.

Hey guys hate to bring up an already covered topic but ive heard of these differentials clicking at low speeds turning and backing up. It seems to me like mines making a fairly harsh and loud crunching sound. Just wondering if the clicking issue talked about is pretty loud and im just overreacting. Thanks for any help.

It's really difficult to determine anything without hearing the sound. Also, diff questions should be in the drivetrain forum. I'll move the thread.

at low speeds if you have the differential in anything but auto or "all the way rear" it will make noise ... you are binding the drivetrain when its making those noises most likely

I keep it in auto all the time and it continues to bind. Is that normal? Like you stated ive heard of the binding when the dccd is out of auto but not when its continously in auto.

I wanted to make sure it was an abnormal thing or something they will fix before I take it to them to get another "thats normal for this car" response.

What position is your DCCD in? Liek the guys have said, if its in anything but "auto", you'll get all sorts of nasty sounds from the driveline.
Also, what gear-oil are you running in your tranny? I know its an 07' but did you change it for some reason? I had problems after my 30K maintenance.

definitely not a normal sound for the car...crunching is bad

Bring it in. And remember, the diffs are under the powertrain warranty until 5yr/60k

I have an 07 and even in Auto, it will bind up if I've just started up and tried to turn too sharp. I always have to turn it to manual and full rear when backing up or driving in parking lots. 1 notch from full rear will still yield some binding.
