Default Just put new brake pads on the car and now the clutch is going

I put new brembo pads on the car and this is the thanks I get from my STi. Maybe She's mad since I put the OEM pads (they were free under warrenty so I figured why not) on, and she wanted some carbotech's, lol. Well the clutch slipped a little in 5th the other day while speeding up and getting onto the freeway. I wasent sure at first, so later that day I launched my car to the point I should of fried my tires off the rims, but instead it just bogged until the car could catch up to the 6k launch. So after almost 37k miles the stocker is now gone. Not to shabby. Still didnt want to drop the money right now, with Xmas around the corner. I'm planning on getting the ACT HD 6 puck "sprung" clutch. Figured I'd share with everyone that extremepsi.com is having a sale on them. 10% off there already super cheap prices with free shipping. Right now total comes to $482 for this clutch which costs $701 through ACT.

thanks for the price check. Do you think it would've lasted you a bit longer had you not launched With that many miles, it was certainly due for a change.

My stock clutch went at 40k

I went to and ACT 6-puck sprung

That lasted 20k miles. (9 months)

I did the clutch work myself and its a PAIN and not something you want to do twice in 9 months.

ACT HIGHLY recommended their street disc and kind of laughed at me for putting a 6-puck on.

So now I am running my HD pressure plate from the 6-puck kit and a street disc.

Supposedly it will last longer. I REALLY regret putting the 6-puck on. I loved it, it held like a champ, but didnt hold up to daily driving, stop and go traffic, it just ate it up.

I am at 307 whp and 372 wtq

I auto-x a lot.

So thats MY recommendation, I wish someone would have told me.

the 6-puck is rated for like 600-650 ft/lbs and the street disc is rated for liek 550 ft/lbs

good info there xrocket21 !!!!!!!!

mine will go soon I am sure, 72k on the stocker and I want as stock-like a clutch as possible, like you I have seen aftermarket stuff not last as long and the performance gain on a mildly modded car is minimal at best.
