probably donuts. you can easily burn out you power steering pump by holding the wheel at full lock for too long and you can also overheat your center diff. Drifting isn't too great either.

I agree with evil but...

I think that drifting would be worse as far as long term. Most people just do a few donuts and thats it. You can only do so many donuts before it gets old, imo.

With drifting, if you're "hardcore", you're doing it over and over again trying to get better. You're bouncing off the rev limiter and staying in high roms for most of the time but you're not moving very fast so the cooling system isn't getting the air flow that it needs to effectively cool the engine.

heh... I did donuts soo long in my first STi that the car started to stall out from starving the fuel pump, and when I parked the car and popped the hood 2 minutes later the turbo was still glowing cherry red
Anyways that was 3 years ago when i was 19. Since then I had to sell that car and got a new one last year. This one has only seen about 3 donuts in its lifetime because I realized that I cannot afford the wear and tear on everything, including the tires.

My first STi was bought brand new(by me) and I went through the first set of tires in 7500 miles, and the second set were shot at around 16k when I sold the car anyways that was the most fun I ever had in my life(pics to boot )

My buddy needed to take action photos for his college photography course so I volunteered. haha the first one is 120mph jumping over a bump in the road on a back road by my house (once again I was 19 and pretty dumb)

lol wow nice^ but ya i know there both pretty bad im more worry about the center diff then anything...and no the situations im talking about arnt like "hardcore drifting" bc first off its a hole lot harder in AWD and second off im not that skilled or dumb...i was talking about more power slides and ya il agree that donuts get old fast!

I would say donuts are worse on the car, but as you already know, neither are good for it.

They are both AWESOME.......in snow..... I loooooooooooove snow and big parking lots.

Seriously, you have a car that has sick grip. They are both bad. If you really need to do them on dry pavement put some crappy tires on that have no grip or......do both in snow.

Donuts are bad for your engine cooling. You know what STi donuts look like...imagine what is happening to all your oil in the engine. Yeah, yeah, we got baffles etc. but after a few minutes they don't help.

Good luck on drifting with a slightly modified STi.

I just ripped a donut with my new all season tires, burned rubber pretty good I would never do them with the stock RE070 tires.

Yeah, its not the best for your car, but if you do do them (drift or donuts) be sure to have non grippy tires, avoid wheel hop and do not lock the steering wheel. Oh, and be sure there is nobody around, be safe have fun.

i drifted my o5 sti on wet pavement, went pretty good until th eengine bogged and the front grabbed and straightened me out. also i was told if you lift the E-brake 1 click itll disengage the diff and the car will act like a rear drive. anyone know if thats true?

it is true. you can also do rear wheel burnouts this way. i've done it with both wheels in a puddle of water. i don't recommend it because it's certainly not good for your center diff.

Donuts are worse because you starve you head(s) of oil. Not good. Here's a little video my friend made of me (CGM STi) and my other friend (OBP STi).

RIP, it was totaled by a DUI driver.
