Default Hard shifting into gear

Ive just started to notice lately that its getting kinda hard to shift into gear mostly in 1st and 2nd but its getting harder in every gear. This doenst just happen when teh car is cold but it happens when the car is warm too. Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing this or anything i can check? Thanks!

Check your trans fluid level (dipstick under intercooler). My car was having the same problem and I had the dealer check it out but they found nothing wrong. Ever since then the car has been perfect. I'm guessing your trans fluid is low or it needs to be changed.

Yea I had 3900 miles when my trans was acting up also! The STi trans is very picky (and supposedly they are sometimes low on trans fluid from the factory), so if you could bring it to the dealer and let them check it out it would be a good idea. It may not need a flush but your best bet is to check the trans fluid level. I'm currently at 5800 miles and my trans is perfect.

warranty should cover that...especially at your mileage, and if you've never touched the fluid.

Tell them your not interested in paying, and if they won't fix it, you'll drive it till it breaks, then they'll have to fix the whole ****ing thing.

I was using Valvoline for 20,000 miles in my 6MT 04 STi tranny; but was having problems with it shifting smoothly when cold... light grinds, difficulty getting it into gear, etc.

Just switched back to the stock "Extra-S" tranny fluid and it made my tranny shift like butter. A+ recommendation from WJM!
