Default Motul 75w-140 in Tranny and diff?

Hey guys,

Decided it would be a good time to change the tranny and rear diff oil. Was at the dealer, and since they are a motul dealer I asked if they had the motul for my STi's tranny and diff. He said yes, and came out with a box. I assumed it would be Motul 75-90 and sae 90 for the diff. However, he gave me 75w-140 for both. ON the bottle it says its for transmissions and differentials. I aske him if the same oil went into both. He said yes. I believed him and bought it. I have not put it into my car yet as I have not read about anyone using this oil. Anyone with insight on this situation would be fantastic. Thanks.

Where you live, that weight would be fine. But, I dunno if that particular juice is the best for our trannies/synchros or diffs...perhaps soemone else does.

When I researched Motul for my tranny and diff the consensus was Gear 300 in the tranny and 90PA in the rear diff. Lots of people use this combo. As far as the 75w90 in both, I'm not so sure about that. Maybe do a search and see if you can find any info on the 75w90 in the rear diff. The 75w90 should be fine in the tranny. Gear 300 is also 75w90 but just full synthetic vs. semi-synthetic.

Gear 300 for trans, PA 90 for the rear. PA 90 meets rear diff specs.

It seems to be the consensus that i should not use this stuff and I should return it to the dealer. However, here is the data sheet, it seems that it should meet all requirements. check it out.

It might work just fine, but I just don't think anyone's tried it. Safe bet = stay with the proven stuff.

it may meet spec but it is not the correct weight of oil. You need to use Motul PA 90 for the rear....that's the answer....don't make it more complicated than it is.

We have been using Gear 300 in the trans and PA90 in the rear diff for quite a while with no problems. PA90 is definitely what you want to use in the rear.
