Default Agency Power short shifter ?'s

Alright. After a bunch of searching on IWSTI, Nasioc, ClubWRX ect, I could not find a full review on the performance and driveability of the shifter. Anyone have any input? I don't want this to turn into a AP=Vivid thread.

Thanks, Manny

I run the Agency Power short throw shifter. I have driven an STI with the Kartboy and they feel identical to me.

You can't find it because no one wants to admit they bought their crap.

Also, your sig is too big.

Well I wasn't scared to admit it . Their short shifter is not a piece of junk, unlike most of their product line.

I have the AP SS. I'm happy with it and it gets the job done. If your worried about it, just get the kartboy one, but to me they are all the same.

They feel identical because it's a straight up knock off. A poor one at that. I have one here that I use to point out problems with the design.

Here's a few - look at the bore of the pivot tube. Sure would have been nice if they did a finishing pass in there to smooth it out.

Oh, and look at the welds. You know why they look like such deep penetration? Because that's all it is. No filler rod was used to make those welds.

Look at the slider bore for the lockout rollpin. They punched it, and didn't bother to smooth in inner bore. Heck, even if they spent the money to machine it they wouldn't have that sharp edge on the inside.

In my opinion, if you're going to blatantly rip off a design then at least do some homework to make your product at least a little better than the original.

When I posted my comments above I figured that it would upset some folks, and true to my prediction I did get a PM that it was uncalled for and unprofessional.

Recently, Tony posted up a comment that he was not happy with some products he's seen. He was basically torn a new one by many people on here. Yet, less than a month later it was revealed, not by us even, there was a horrible design flaw in some of those products that necessitated a new version being sent to the customers. Hmmmmm.....

Now, for those of you who know us you know that we don't mince words. For those of you who don't know us take a look around. You'll find we pretty much call it like we see it.

Lets say you go for a checkup, and it turns out you have cancer. Would you prefer that the doc tell you everything is great or would you prefer he tell you that you're really sick?

In the end, Tony and I work very hard to contribute to the community. Not just as vendors, but as owners of Subarus. This requires going above and beyond just posting up a bunch of for sale threads. It requires going out into the technical forums, working with others, testing parts (many parts we don't even sell), providing feedback, and offering guidance from our own experience. See, our being a vendor affords us the unique opportunity of being able to try out many many different things on our own cars. Something the normal person just can't do.

Frankly, the more professional behavior is sharing that feedback, and experience to others. So to call us unprofessional when we do this has me a bit confused. Personally, I feel the unprofessionalism stems from just pushing parts without knowing anything about them. How many vendors do you shop with that don't know a damn thing about what they are selling?

-Clint

I would just like to add that Tony and Clint have done great things for this forum. They test many products and only suggest buying items that fit your needs (pending those items are good). They just aren't in this community to make tons of money (even though I am sure they don't mind if they do ). I know this, because I was going to buy sways from them, but they suggeste to buy springs first as it would be more beneficial.

they did steal the design from us. poorly i might ad. i even have a copy of the PO they sent to the dealer they got it from..
they claim its SS . it is not. its the poorest 1010 material. the welds were way to hot and not enough rod used.(ie failure is probable) i miked it against one our ours and the tolerances were way out of spec.

but hay for 50 bucks or whatever you get what you pay for....

And this is why I purchase from TiC! Even if its just small purchases at the moment

We appreciate your honesty and your support, and please don't ever ever hold your tongue for fear of a negative backlash...in the end everyone appreciates the honesty as it benefits all of us.

THANKS!

Jesse
