Default Nice little Sunday....and kartboy help

Well today was pretty productive for my STI and myself. Put the v-limited replica (fastwrx.com) on that I painted yesterday and installed my Kartboy short shifter.

One question though, I was also trying to install the Kartboy shifter bushing and could not get the stock one off. How tight is that bolt on? I didn't want to snap it or anything but it seemed like it was really on there.

Any suggestions? By the way, the kartboy shifter is a GREAT product, not a bad install if you take your time and well worth it! I love how the car shifts now.

Here are the directions from TIC's website:
TiC STi Super Shifter Set

It may help. I'm sure TIC will chime in here pretty quickly. They are very knowledgeable.

Thanks, but I understand the directions and what I have to do. I'm just curious if anyone had trouble getting the bolt loosened so I could put the new kartboy bushing on. I appreciate it though.

It's really not that bad, the directions linked from the Kartboy website are excellent. Just follow those. Took about 3 hours, maybe less, but I work slow and double check everything. The only hard part is reattaching the reverse lock-out (could take 5 min or 45 min). The rest of the install is pretty basic, unbolting, re-bolting, adding some grease and such. I took my time and enjoyed doing it this afternoon. It's definitely a great piece and makes driving your STI even more fun. Only other "hard" part was thinking about how I was taking part my new car haha. Oh, and I only took the shifter boot off, don't waste your time taking the whole center console out. If you have anymore questions, shoot me a PM.

Still didn't get the bushing installed though, curious to see how much of a difference it makes.

Bump, any suggestions on the getting the bolt loosened? It was really tight and I'm hesistant to try and put a breaker bar on there and then end up snapping the bolt?

Once again this is the bushing that comes with the Kartboy short shifter kit.

Either front or rear bushings should not be that tight. Use some PB Blast on it incase there's any grime or rust in the threads.

Still stuck @ my desk at work...won't be able to get to it until the weekend (probably next weekend in fact). I'll have some prosport gauges to put in as well. Bunch of updates for my journal soon!

Any notes on the install you want to share would be excellent! I will be doing this myself in the next couple of weeks (hopefully next Sunday.) I have the instructions and have pre-read everything, so I hope to be good to go.

Next weekend I'll eventually get to finishing that bushing, along with gauges and such.

PM me if you have any specific questions. The kartboy site link for the shifter instructions were what I followed, just take your time and follow each step.

One note, you CAN do the install by yourself. Just get a long screwdriver to prop the reverse lock-up. Pretty much impossible without propping it.

And make sure you use the correct size to pop the pin out of the shifter. I got lucky getting it in and out (not jokes please), only took me like 15 min. The re-install can be a PITA.
