I want an extremely heavy shift knob for my 06 STI. I want something that is significantly heavier than the stock knob. The spherical aluminum knobs look good, but I want something a lot heavier.

How heavy is the 06 STI stock shift knob and how heavy is your heaviest knob you could make?

Thanks

IIRC, when I last weighed my STi TI ball knob it was around 180grams, my LW copolymer sphere with brass insert was 130 at most (if that, fuzzy memory). I would imagine the alum. would be somewhere in between the two.

Right now the heaviest knob in my lineup is the Aluminum Sti Sphere at 170 grams. The only way to make a heavier one would be a larger diameter aluminum sphere, around 2.25" diameter (normally 2.0"). Or to use stainless steel for one, but that would take an extremely long time to make by hand (and would be appropriately expensive). I may be able to run some stainless steel spheres on a digital lathe which would cut down the cost significantly.

Glad you like it! I made that one right before the holidays just in time for Xmas. Good to hear it made it there on time.

That it did! Apparently my girl (Brooke) knew I wanted a new shift knob as well...and by the damn good resourcefulness, she found out about WC Lathe Werks, read up on some forums about the quality and placed an order.

So on top of the Aluminum goodness of a shiftknob...I know have a weighted black Copolymer shift knob as well for when I want to change up moods

More fine quality, so thanks again

bump it up!

I am now offering customizable and standard shift pattern engravings for all my shiftknob products! The price is $35-50 for a shift pattern with any color paint you want on it, and custom engravings are specifically priced based on the design. Here are some samples of my products with the engravings:

Just got a pair of Copolymer Spheres, one for the STI and one for the WRX. They are very nice, and very light compared to the stock knobs. I'm very happy with them, and the turnaround time was fast! I wasn't expecting them for a while, but WC Lathe Werks is definately, exscuse the pun, "on the ball!"

You could opt for the brass insert versions if you want extra weight

I don't do knockoffs of other companies. I have my own designs. If you mean the burnt titanium look, Ti is way too expensive for me to work with small-quantity. I do have aluminum knobs though which have a silver finish
