Exclamation Change your cabin air filter HOW TO

I know there was a thread about how dirty the filter gets for the cabin air...so I decided to change mine, seeing winter is gone finally. Took pics while I did it...it's only about a 10 minute job look...

THE FILTER IS BEHIND THE GLOVEBOX. THERE IS 9 SCREWS THAT HOLD IT IN AND 1 CLIP. THE CLIP IS TO THE RIGHT OF THE GLOVE BOX ON THE SIDE, HERE IS A PIC OF WHERE THE SCREWS ARE:

THE 2 SCREWS UNDER THE DASH:

TAKE THE GLOVEBOX OFF, IT WILL LOOK SOMETHING LIKE THIS:

THIS HARNESS GETS IN THE WAY, SO UNPLUG IT:

THIS IS WHERE THE FILTER IS:

POP THE COVER OFF:

AND TAKE THE FILTER OUT, MIGHT LOOK SOMETHING LIKE THIS...

WHICH YOU WILL REPLACE WITH THE NICE NEW SHINY ONE

PUT THE COVER BACK ON THE FILTER COVER, PLUG THE HARNESS BACK IN THEN START SCREWING THE GLOVEBOX BACK UP

THATS IT!

I just got a filter from Advanced Auto Parts and it cost $12... it fits almost perfectly. It is a Purolator "Breathe Easy" # C38188 electrostatic charged cabin air filter.

I did the Home Depot special last time, but I was very unhappy with the filtering capability (had lots of dust making it past the filter and into my AC system) so I went with a real cabin air filter this time.

I purchased the ebay filter from AircabinMan. As mentioned, it is IDENTICAL.

If you want to see more pics, I have them here:

Just did mine yesterday....it was a 5 minute job..10 minutes including cutting the box, taking the new filter out of the box and taking it out of the plastic wrap...dealer was going to charge $99 for it...
Got the filter for $13 shipped..
15,000 miles

Pop open the glove box and unhook the hinge
Take the old filter out (I was nervous when I was pulling it out...(that's NOT what he said!)I was afraid it was gonna be filthy)

Goes into the slot right above the "L"

old vs new

Easier than cleaning the 18-spoke BBS wheels
