Default Brake Dust...GAAAHH!!!!

Ok let me start off with this is my first time in a Subie, and I just bought it this weekend(06 STI). However this isnt my first sports car (i also have a Porsche Boxster). Is it normal for this car to produce so much brake dust. I men when i got home from the dealership i thoguht, hmmm they must not have washed it down. So i washed and waxed her all up. After driving to work today i notice there is almost just as much brake dust all over the rims again. I check all 4 tires and tey all are about the same. Is this normal? What can i do to prevent this (Dust shields?) ?

its completely normal, the brembos are notorious for dusting like mad, get ready to clean ur wheels 1-2 times a week lol... also invest in some wheel sealant/wax

this is what i use:

Wheel wax + BBS = easy-to-clean BBS. You will always have brake dust. You might as well learn to live with it now.

The first few weeks I was on top of the brake dust. Until I started busting my knuckles cleaning those damn things. They are a PITA. I use Simple Green straight up. Let it soak for 15 min and then wash. But right now my wheels look black.

warm water and simple and water mix does a good job also, applying a coat of wax after you clean em makes it easier to clean next time.

Far from acidic it's a cleaner/degreaser, non abrasive, non-toxic, biodegradable and doesn't contain bleach. You can use it on anything and it won't strip the clear coat.

I used wheel wax on my rims and now all I do is spray em down with a pressure washer and they look good again... no scrubbing or busted knuckles required. I will agree though, brake dust is a PITA!

Will have to go with hawk pads when the time comes...

I too was tired with the dust from the stock pads. I recently upgraded to hawk HPS and wow, what a difference. If you can't deal with it then switch asap while your rotors are new.

There is a lot of dust with the stock pads but I am living with it, besides, I don't really mind cleaning my wheels. I swear by P21S gel - That stuff is unreal.
