Was looking at some back posts and it seems like these are the two best waxes...I'm thinking about getting some Zaino Z-2...any Meguiar's fans out there? I've heard good things about their wheel cleaner, however.

zaino. for sure. the meguiar's wheel cleaner is the way to go for the brake dust, though. order the zaino car wash, clay bar, z2 and z5. that's all you really need. even if your is new, do the clay. it's amazing.

I got my Zaino kit, but I'm so dead confused as to what to do, applying it hurts my head too....

I had said that there were instructions for the whole process on Zaino's site, but the post got deleted. Sounds like it's complicated and takes a good day to do right.

For me, it's Meguiar's all the way. I've tried both Zaino and Meguiars and I was always happier with how Meeguair's NXT wax went on and came off like butter. If you want the ultimate in shine and silky smooth touch, clay your car, use Klasse's All in One, and follow that up with Meguiar's NXT...you won't be disappointed. Honestly, I wasn't impressed with how Zaino looked on my car, zfx was a PITA to wipe off too. Washing a car isn't rocket science, and waxing it shouldn't be either. IMO, no one should ever dedicate more than a few hours to waxing their car. My neighbor is a car detailing guru(he's on all the detailing forums) and supposedly the pro detailers use everything but Zaino. Whatever floats your boat, just putting in my $.02.

Here is my car with ONLY NXT. I am going to try to put Klasse all in one and Klasse sealant this weekend.

Zaino here, washed with Dawn, clayed and Zainoed with 2 oz of Z-2 and it's the best shine I've seen or done on any car. I have prolly $300 in slightly used cleaning and waxing products and Zaino by far beats the best of waxes in application and removal. Again mixed 2 ounces and completed the entire car! And the shine is fantastic!

Default First Autocross (I love this car)

I use Zaino and have no complaints other than the time it takes to put on. Does look fantastic though.

first off that car looks hot, what kinda suspension you rollin on?

also, i use this mother's liquid wax, but whenever im done cleaning my car, i see these swirls...im pretty sure they are not swirl marks but i think it's coming from the wax...anyone know what this is?
it's especially apparent on my left rear door....am i waxing wrong? i mean the wax is a bit tough to get off but is it likely to scratch the car with the wax?

Sorry to say, you have a black car, get used to it. If what you are using is hard to wipe off I bet you are putting the swirls in the paint trying to remove the wax. Nothing you can really do other than buff the swirls out with a powered buffer or use some sort of polish and wax to try and cover them up. It will just be a matter of time with black paint that they reappear though. If you really think it is wax, try using a quick detailer. That should remove the wax residue that won't come off.

One thing to add since this is a Meguiars VS Zaino thread. On my black Supra I used to use Meguiars and switched to Zaino with amazing results. I highly recommned Zaino on a black car. On my WRB STi I am really impressed with Klasse. I am too scared to try it on my Supra and then not be happy with it. I don't want to have to redo all the initial Zaino stuff. Actually on my Supra I have since put a couple coats of a true carnauba wax over the Zaino stuff and it really looks amazing.

I detail for a toyota dealership. And I also have a black STI. My questions for you would be, what did you use on the car, what did you apply with, and what did you take it off with? And most importantly I hope you did not wax in direct sunlight or when your paint was still hot. Personally from experience I can tell you Polish is far safer to use on a car than a wax that contains carnauba. carnauba wax has tiny abbrasives in it and in a way is basically stripping layers off of your clear coat to make it shine and over time can dull your finish. Polish will have the same outcome as many waxes and is safe for clearcoats. I recommend Meguiars step 2. You can apply it all day every day and never harm your paint in the outcome. Also try using a foam pad to apply. Garage your car or apply wax/polish in the shade and if your car is black ALWAYS remove wax with a microfiber towel. Terrycloth is borderline on black, it may be too abbrasive. Also those marks look like your wax may have baked into the paint... hopefully not. if you have any questions feel free to respond!

That is not true. A true carnauba wax has no abrasives in it, not sure where you heard that from. I also never heard of Meguiar's step 2. Is that a polish? A polish will not protect your paint, that is why you should follow up a polish with a wax. Just like a true wax will not clean or polish your paint and you usually should prepare the paint with a polish before you wax it.

woah nice to have a pro on board!... ok well i have been waxing with carnuba wax and yes it was in the sun....this causes the wax to get baked into the paint? ouch , is this reversible or what?
also what is a micro fiber towel? are those just 100percent cotton towels? i better switch to a polish instead of a wax...can you reccommend anything good that will give you a nice shine, not abrasive, and also will protect your car's exterior?

Could you just let me know how YOU wax your car, with waht products, towels, procedures....i think this might be the safest way for me. Thanks!!
