IWSTI Addict since: May 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | Wow - impressive. When I was younger, I wouldn't mind spending 4 hours on a wash/wax - but was never as hardcore as some of the descriptions above. Now, I just take it to a car wash or detailer to have it done for me. Not as rewarding, but that's life. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | I do it myself: (1) I'm a cheapskate and (2) I've yet to find a detailer worth the money. That latter statement is not an indictment of all detailers; it's just that most whose work I've seen don't seem to do any better job than I can do myself. Really, I'm blown away by some of the work I see in this forum. ![]() I use mostly Griot's Garage products. I've tried many other products, but I find that their stuff is of good quality and well-supported by the company. A couple of notable exceptions to my Griot's preferences are Stoner's glass cleaner and wheel shine, and a product called Leather CPR, which I've found to be an excellent cleaner/conditioner (I've used it on leather motorcycle seats with great results over the years). By most people's standards I'm obsessive about my cars. By the standards of many here, I'm a total slob. My cars generally get washed a couple of times a week (unless the snow is flying here in Chicago . . . at which point it's a total waste of time) and polished/waxed at least every couple of months. I actually have a fairly decent setup for my obsessive behavior--my garage is heated, with an epoxy-coated floor, hot and cold hose tap, and a built-in vac system. If I were a bazillionaire I'd spend a gazillion bucks more on it, but it is pretty serviceable as is. |

| Professional STI Racer | I haven't washed my car in at least two months. My wheels look like they are powder coated black but it's just brake dust. No, I don't detail my car. It's a pain in the arse, takes too long and is just going to be dirty the VERY NEXT DAY. |
