I recommand a water pressure washer (electric one, no more than 1800 psi) and special teflon brushes, P21S wheel cleaner, some sort of wheel polish. 2. Dremmel tool, polishing tip. (something delicate, yet strong). I'm not an expert on the dremmel tips, so read the instructions. You want something that will take off the chunks of brembo dust, but not the finish on the wheel. Wash the wheels with a strong stream of water, apply P21S, let that sit for a while. Scrub the wheels with your brushes. Hose the wheels down. Apply the wheel polish/creme to the areas with the caked dust. Start working with the dremmel. The caked dust should start comming off. Repeat as needed until you got all of it. Repeat on the rest of the wheels.

| Senior STI Driver | How bad can it be? I believe I picked up a bottle of P21S (i think it was) and it took all the brake dust off with no problem. I have tried about 3 or 4 other brands and they wouldnt even touch the dust compared to it. But I dont think I would try anything on your list and I would listen to Peleg's advice. He seems to know his stuff about car detailing. Good luck |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2006 Trader Rating: (7) | jesus... some of the suggestions are pretty crazy... oven cleaner? i would never let that **** touch my wheels haha... peleg definitely has the right idea... but i wouldnt use a dremel... i tried it on one of my wheels and ended up burning a slight hole in the paint because it just got too hot and got too many abbrasives on the tool i was using... however i was able to tackle HUGE amounts of very annoying race pad dust with a rubbing compound... i use my most aggressive swirl remover compound (PB SSR3) and scrubbed by hand with a terry cloth... the wheels now look almost brand new... i coated them with protectant afterwards and now the dust practically rolls off the wheels when washed. |

Has the citris juice in it. Wash the rims as good as you can when you are done with that spray Goo gone on and then it will almost wipe right off. This is how I do it. Have 06' with the Gold BBS and it is a pain keeping them clean.

I wonder if spraying the area with water as you work would resolve that.

IWSTI Addict since: May 2006 Trader Rating: (2) | I take my wheels off the car and pressure wash them one buy one. With the gentle nozzle that came with my gas powerd pressure washer not sure the psi off the top of my head. That gets most of it off except were the lug nots were and right up against "spoke walls" around the rim. Then a scrup them with a brush. Usually if If i scrub it for a Min then pressure wash it it comes off. |
