Is it OK to use WD-40 to remove road tar from the paint of a driver side door?

Turtle Wax has Tar & Bug Remover that works nicely.

Meguiar's has a Cleaner Was that also works nicely.

My only hesitation in using WD-40 is that it might not wipe off as completely as the two products noted above.

Autozone. WD-40 will wipe off, I've used it before to get **** off of my paint/bumpers. I didn't load it on, just a few sprays.

I use WD-40. Then wash it afterwards. Comes off usually.

+1 on the Turtle Wax Bug and Tar remover. It works like magic and can be purchased in a lot of retail stores such as Walmart, Target, Murrarys, Etc... My dads car had tar build up from years ago on his side skirts. I figured I would give it a shot to see how good this stuff really works. To my surprise, it removed everything!

You can typically purchase Goo-Gone or Goof-Off in the Housewares or Hardware section of your grocery store or at retailers such as Wal-Mart, Target, Costco, etc.

I would not recommend using WD-40. I used it before on another vehicle and it left a mark in the paint. Try goo-gone as others had said.

I would be hesitant to use WD40. I vote Goo - gone.

rain-x bug & tar remover. i always wax after, just to be safe..

Goo Gone and Turtle Wax Products are good. I have used both. But washing and waxing afterwards is still a good idea. Often if it removes goo it removes wax as well.
