Anyone know if these will damage the paint? I have one that I used on a previous car. If you don't know what one is, it is a brush with cotton "bristles" that are impregnated with a kind of wax. You "dust" your car off between car washes to keep it looking good. It does leave little streaks of the wax behind but I used to be able to shine it up by using a chamois. I am just wondering if it is ok for the STi paint.

I use it ALL the time... Its more like a mop... not bristles, its very soft and has a wax built into the strands of whaetver its made out of. Its very helpful... and will be SUPER helpful when pollen season comes around again. Its also nice if you got hit by a slight bit of water that left some dirt on your car and you dont wanna rewash again. I havent had any scratches or anything and it says "gaurenteed to not scratch paint" ... so have at it!

Pralix, I use the California duster all the time....especially after a good wax. I've used it on 3 new vehicles, and have never had a problem with scratches. Also, the more you use it, the less streaking you will notice from the waxy "whatever" it is coated with. Now, over 2 years of use, I have no streaks and NO SCRATCHES!!!!.....

It should be standard issue with STi's. It's better to use the duster than wash the car, depending on just how dirty / dusty it is.

California Car Duster is the win. It is one of the best automotive accessory purchases I've ever made. They also make a smaller Dash Duster which works very well.

The wood handled one has a better strand than the plastic one. Also, make sure not to touch your wheels with it because you'll pick up metallic particles and start rubbing them into the paint.

Oh, and if you're using the Zaino system, Sal recommends using a bit of Z6 after wards to kill some of the static charge.

I use one on my black baby almost everyday. It's important to let it do it's job, don't push, don't go in circles, just front to back and it'll work wonders.

I also have 589,000,000 coats of wax on the car.

does anyone know if it is safe to use the california duster on the rims for the brake dust? im assuming its not since the brake dust is corrosive and the dust remains on the bristles, which go back on your car...but i could be wrong, any info?

Just keep the wheels waxed and hit them with a hose once a week or so to wash off the brake dust.

I wax my wheels once every three washes (meguiars nxt generation), and now the dust practically comes off with a hard hit of water every time.
But I know there is some kind of brake dust wax out there that is supposed to keep the dust off.
