Default Wax Idea?

To all the detailing buffs:

Since my car is aspen white i have a tough time seeing where i apply wax when i do it. I was thinking if i added blue food dye it would make the process alot easier and avoid missing spots. Is there any downside to doing this? Will it affect the wax or paint?

It's dye so yeah it would probably make the paint blue. Ive never tried to wax a white car but maybe better lighting would help?

Just use a light and look at it from an angle...

Doesn't sound like a good idea to me, it will stain and make a mess.

Which wax are you using?

Meguiar's #26 is an excellent wax and it's yellow. Give that a shot.

Yeah, i would also shy away from the food color... mothers carnuba solid was yellows as well, as long as you have a light readily available, you will be fine with any wax, as you can see the flatness on the car at an angle on the spots yet to be buffed out.

Make sure to have a microfiber wax applicator, a good buffing/waxing microfiber towel and wax the car in a shady place after you wash and dry it.

If you follow these simple steps, it will make all the difference in the world.
