I've used a stain remover called OFF with great success on sap. It takes it off right away and doesn't affect the paint.

as long as you do it right, it will not harm your car. I have done it on several cars with no problems.

Default still need help with hardened sap

Thanks for the tips....I got about 8 gib globs of tree sap on my car...about 3 weeks ago.....your advice about using alcohol worked very well for the gooby stuff.

However, on the hood, I'm afraid that it got baked on

Any ideas? how to get the hardened stuff off?

So far I've tried, the alcohol, Cleaner/wax, that says it will clean sap/tar....but nothing is touching the hardened stuff!

Any ideas? thanks mucho I've appreciated the help

Goo Gone or Goof Off.... Believe me. I got sap off of my mother's forester, and it was caked on. After your done though, wash the area and make sure you apply a new coat of wax.

I had heard a long time ago on a Honda forum to use nail polish remover. I have used it on my Hondas with no problems and my buddy used it on his STi with no problem either. It seems to take off even caked on sap with relative ease.

Just use it the same way people have said with the rubbing alcohol.
This is how I do it:
1. Wash the car so you don't scratch it with any dirt still on the car.
2. Remove the sap with the nail polish remover using a cotton ball or soft cloth.
3. Clean the area again with a quick detailer.
4. Polish and/or wax the area.

I've taken road tar off with a claybar. Wouldn't it work also for sap?

Don't know how hard it would be to find in the US, but Eucalyptus Oil works great and doesnt harm the paint finish. Used it many times on my cars and friends. Aust and sap onto cars goes hand in hand. LOL

The very best stuff that I have found is zippo brand lighter fluid. I used it on the hood of a 05 gt3. It works great no real explenation of why it just does. Hope this helps.
