Smile How often do you wax your STI?

Hello Everyone,

To all you folks who Love a clean STI, I was wondering how often you guys wax your car? I average about 2 washes a week and 1 wax every month or so.

Let me know you schedule if you would like...

Thanks

I polish my car 2-3 times a year and wax it if I have the time after each wash.

My car is fairly new so I've yet to wax it. I wash it once a week mostly because of the insane amount of break dust this thing generates. I usually wax all of my cars once or twice a year. usually in the fall and spring to prepare the car for the harsh winter months and the blazing summer sun.

Since picking up my STI in mid-December I've waxed it about 2.5 times:

1st time: NXT generation
2nd time: Meguiars' Deep Crystal system (cleaner, polish, carnuba)
Half: certain sections with NXT generation

I've decided that whenever I get a chance, after I wash the car (at least once a week) I'm going to wax one (or two) sections of the car. That way it doesn't take me very long to keep it looking fresh.

About twice a month. Polishing happens when I'm not busy detailing professionally.

www.thesmallstuff.net if anyone is interested in my work. The pictures are from the 2005 season.

It really depends how often you wash it, and also on the type of wax. (Synthetic vs. Carnauba)

If you wash your car twice a week (props for that) I'd say you can wax it every 5-6 weeks or so, don't forget to polish it as well (3-4 times a year should be enough before waxing, Zaino can take care of that)

Most people buy synthetic wax (liquid ones in the bottles like Meguire's) because they are readily available and cheaper. They also last alot longer.

Agreed. I usually recommend a pure (or close to pure) Caranuba wax to my regular customers, as the acrylic/polymer sealants i use are intended to remain underneath any coats of wax. However, for the simple the wash/wax customers, I usually recommend something like Megs NXT paste wax as it is easy to procure (OTC) and simple to apply and remove, and has slight cleaning agents.

I've heard some good and some bad about Optimum. May not be the easiest for amature use. Quality of the job is 90% technique and 10% product.
