I use P21S to clean right before I Rejex them. Good combination, effects, last for months. (ie easy to clean with normal carwashing)

After trying other rim cleaners and only letting them soak for 30 secs ( Was afraid would damage paint ), I finally got a bottle of P21S and a refill.
I got the gel. I sprayed it on and left it on for 2 hours and did my usual mit and soap in bucket cleaning.

The stuff is amazing. It cleaned gunk that has never been cleaned before. Also it didn't seem to irritate my skin like most other wheel cleaners do.

I'm going to try some One Grand Tar and Bug remover to see if I can get the remaining brake stuff off.

go to Germany during the winter, you will smell alcohol coming from car windshield washer sprayers because they put it in the tank instead of water to clear the ice off thier windshields, I assume they choose alcohol because it doesn't freeze.
I never heard of people doing it in the states but it seemed to be common place in Germany.
as long as it doesn't hit the exhaust/torbo area it should not be a problem. the engine or intercooler itself doesn't get hot enough on the surface to ignite it.

We use it in the states all the time.

But usually it's premixed.

You can buy windshield fluid in many stores.

I use the Meguiar's Hot Rims cool rims wheel cleaner and it works great. I tried a few other products that didn't work at all and even bought a 2600 PSI pressure washer just to clean my wheels. My buddy let me try this cleaner and it worked better than the pressure washer.

Yes, but is it safe like P21S?

Will it take some clearcoat away if you leave it on for 2 hours?

I assume its safe, its made for clearcoat wheels. But 2 Hours!!? It says to wash off after 30 seconds and thats about all you need. I go around and spray each rim. By the time I'm done with that I go around and rinse them off and I'm done. Sometimes there will be a real bad spot that needs some rubbing but it comes right off.

Yes, make sure you rinse well also. If any of the wheel cleaner is left on a spot, it may discolor the clearcoat.
I have seen wheels that have have been sprayed by car wash places that use acid and lyes and they eat the paint right off.

I let the P21S gel sit for 2 hours and cleaned my rims and they were fine.

Hate to sound nasty but it's for your own good! I wiped off my brake dust dry once with a rag and blew my nose. Black snots. I know a lot of brake pads now are non-asbestos but I'm not taking any chances. Brake dust gets the hose now.

EDIT: Didn't use the same rag by the way!

Why would you wipe your rims dry???????

bad bad bad, might as well wash your car dry.
The finish will come out great. You can try Brillo also.

I have had very good luck with Black Gold's spray on wheel cleaner. 30 seconds, spray it off, hand dry and its clean. Works better than any of the other off the shelf I have used.

I may try this stuff though for when I need to do a more hard core, off the car cleaning since you can leave it on.

God's gift to combat brake dust is anthracite rims.
