I use black magic, I apply it with a paint brush to keep it off the rims. The secret is to let it set for while so the excess goes off the tires. You will get sling though with anything you use if you use too much, to get the true wet look. You can apply it and then wipe it off gently to reduce this, but it also reduces the wet look effect.

I use Pinnacle tire gel, it's expensive but works incredibly well. It doesn't sling at all and it doesn't create a cheesy wet look. The tires have a subtle gloss to them, not over the top like most tire shines. I'd highly recommend it, although at $17 a bottle it's not cheap. A bottle will go a long way though, you don't need to use much at all.

Meguires Endurance use foam applicator. The key is to clean the tires with Bleach white or other tire cleaner first, it'll last a week or more. Smells good too.

Meguiar's Hot Shine Tire Spray in Aerosol form. Doesn't sling off, super easy to apply with their spray width adjustment. Shiney, but not greasy.

Stuff works awsome and lasts for weeks. I just put on one lite coat and let it sit for an hour or so then it soaks in and is dry. You don't get that spray all over your car from other tire products

I'm using the Meguiars Long Endurance Tire Shine Gel right now (think that's what it's called) but next I plan on trying out the Eimann Fabrik Black Saphire Tire Gel.
