Since you brought the subject of paint chips, I think I'll go ahead and try this kit with before and after pictures and see how it comes out.

I've always wondered about Langka... I've got some nasty mini-chips (all less than a match-head wide and it's only been 1.5 months since I've had the car!

I have a few myself, they are very tiny, but still.

Default Clean up time! Storage of mitts, pads etc.

In between washing your car, it's a good idea to wash your mitt. I usually put mine with other laundry. This will keep the mitt clean and take out any micro-particles that got there so they don't get on the paint as you keep washing your car.

Same goes with polishing pads.

Make sure to follow the manufacture suggestion as far as cold or warm water.

I then put the mitt or pad in the dryer under normal temperature and it's ready for the next car.

Storing your mitt is just as important. I like the zip lock bags, so the mitt doesn't get dry, it also keeps it clean.

Yeah, I am curious also. I heard about this stuff a few years ago and always wondered if it worked good. Keep us posted Peleg.

Default Meguire's Yellow Wax # 26

Just wanted to share my experience with this wax. I detailed a silver STi today, and this wax is absolutly awesome.

For starters, it smells great! (Bannana scent)

After polishing the paint with Sonus stage 3 polish, I applied this wax. What I really like about it is how easy it applies and comes off. There are alot of waxes on the market, and some of them dry on the paint and are harder to take off. This stuff comes off very easily and leaves an incredible shine and gloss. (Don't forget to use a good microfiber towel)

So if you're looking for a really good synthtic wax in a bottle that is available locally, this is the stuff to get.

Peleg,
Did you ever get a chance to try the Langka paint chip repair kit?

One thing i would like to add. If a bird poops on your car be very careful. Birds eat tiny rocks to help digest food so you can't really just whipe it off as you can stratch your paint. I would recommend hot/warm water with a teaspoon of baking soda. Its a neutrul solvant that will break up the acidic contents of the poop. Get a spong/rag and dab where the poop is. Especially if it has been on there awhile.

Peleg, should i re-use polishing pads or waxing pads if i dont wash them first?

I have a few questions....

1. What's the best way to protect all the shiny plastic trim pieces on the outside of the car? ...the ones that surround the windows and run the length of the roof near the doors. Will a good wax protect these and keep them from dulling? The Alabama sun is brutal.

2. My car is developing some light scratching that you typically see on a black car (mine is silver). It's really only noticeable under certain lighting at night. What can I do about this?

3. S100 wax, what do you think of it? Seems very easy to wipe off, adds a nice depth to the silver paint.

My paint is definitely ready for a claybar job and polishing. The paint feels a bit "rough" at spots and there's some little spots that won't come off with a wash and wax.

For fine scratches and swirls you can use a fine polish. I know many companies will make specific stractch polishes that I believe are a bit harsher, but should help eliminate many of the scratches. Meguiars scratch-x has worked for me in the past. I haven't used Klasse or p21s stuff yet, so I can't say how good they are.

Not quite yet. I've been traveling like crazy, but I will get to it.

It requires washing the car and preping the chip, but I will try it, take photos and post.

1. I use the Sonus Total Eclipse from autopia-carcare.com, it's made in Germany and is water based. It's always UV40 rated, so it will protect against the sun. The same product is used on the dash as well. You can use wax, but it won't provide as good as of a protection as the UV rated stuff.

2. Polisher, and a good anti swirl polish will take off MOST fine scratches, as long as they aren't too deep. The rule of thumb is, if your finger nail gets caught in the scratch, it's too deep. There should be some pictures of my Integra in this thread showing such scratches and how I took them out.

3. I believe S100 is a derivative product of P21S wax. P21S is top notch stuff, however I haven't used their wax yet, but it got very very good ratings. I did use Meguire's Yellow wax # 26 this weekend on billg's silver STi and it came out incredible, not sure how expensive the S100, but I know that P21S Carnauba wax is $30/bottle, the Meguire's is 1/3 of that cost and is locally available.

* Kragen Auto Parts now carries the Stoner line of products.

I use their Glass cleaner and tire shine. 2 very awesome products.
