Cool Re: Peleg's Guide to Detailing

Today i did a a 2001 SL500 with 26,000 miles on it.

the paint was in ok, shape.... lots of swirls but no real oxidization since it had been garage kept.
the owner paid to have it detailed befor i got to it....

the entire car was covered with bad swirl marks, as well as light scratches.

as the process moves along you can see that the paint can become like a mirrior.

not a great picture, but you get the idea.

no more swirl marks

inside came out great

wash with meguiares NXT crazy purple stuff
meguiares professinal mild clay
rewash
light swirl remover with semi agressive pad
custom blend of cleaner wax with a med pad
Menzerna finishing glaze
wolfgang paint sealant

with a few minor tricks in there to get it to pop.

Alright, I'm trying to pick a new Wax to try.........here are the contenders:

1. P21S Caranauba wax.

2. 3M Showcar paste wax.

3. Poorboy's paste wax.

4. Pinnacle XMT Carnauba paste wax.

5. Pinnacle Signature series Carnauba wax.

All got rave reviews, # 5 actually was shown on a blue by you Lancer Evo.

I'm going to call autogeek and get an opinion, but feel free to chime in if you used any of these.

I'm also going to experiment with the scratch removal Lankanga kit , so we shall see how that goes. My integra got a lot of chips. If that works well, I will move to the STi.

Stay tuned....

Well, autogeek recommanded the Pinnacle souveran which is $70 after the coupon. I felt it was pretty expensive, together with all the other stuff I've ordered, so I settled for the Pinnacle signature serious II carnauba.

I haven't used the Pinnacle stuff, but I have excellent results with P21s 100% Carnauba Wax - especially on darker colored cars. It still works well on whites, silvers, and yellows, but is a bit harder to manage. I'll be interested to see what you think about the Pinnacle stuff.

Order is on the way.

I'm very excited about the new foam gun. I will then use my 5 gallon bucket/grit guard filled with hot water. This should be fun.

It does get more dirt off. Just don't use it on the windshield in the winter, or you'll be sorry.

ok well i guess im bad at washing my car cuase i got a new hood from the accident and stuff and well..theres swirls on my hood..
heres what i did.
Took my hose
washed my car with pressure
added meguiars Deep crystal wash
Dried it with towels ( what are some good towels to dry that wont scratch?)
used meguiars Clay bar kit (when using it i spray detailer and rubed the clay on it)
After that
I used meguiars hard polish
