Dremmel tool, fine polishing tip, fine polish or wheel polish.

My co worker just did that on his BMW and said it worked very well.

The P21s Wheel Cleaner Gel - are you supposed to cut that with water?

NO, you want it to be thick so it sticks to the rims.

Take the wheels off, and work on one rim a night, while watching tv. Clean the rims in conventional fashion, and than use clay to clean out the pitting (black spots.) Once your done I would drop some wax on the rims to prevent further pitting. Overall the key is patience, it takes a lot of work to get rid of them all, but if you take your time it will come out well.

I usually spray it on, and leave it for a bit (2 hours is doable, but you don't need that much time). Make sure your not in the sun, or else it will just dry up.

Wash it off with a hose, and than clean it will a cotton towel, a car wash soap. Make sure you use a new towel for each wheel. Rinse that soap off and you should be good to go.

Clay definently works, and I would never, I mean never, dremel rims. The STI rims are painted, if you abuse it, they will start to look like crap.

Some hot water, P21S or Autoglym engine degreaser or you can even try the "Orange" cleaner spray from the grocery store that is based on orange oil.

Scrub with a brush and hose it off.

Check the engine detailing guide on page 2 of this post.

I agree with that, just be prepared for the claybar not being able to take that stuff off.

Default Axle boot detail

No, I'm not crazy.

The undercarriage is where most of us don't even look. I give it a good zip of water when I detail, but that's about it.

As you know, the axle boots, AKA CV boots collect all the road debris, salts, sand and everything else out there. With time these contaminants cause punctures in the boots and then it's a new CV boot job or a new axle.

Here is how I came about this idea. The Boots are rubber, since they have to be flexible.

You can wash them, clean them and then PROTECT THEM.

Here is what I have in mind:

1 bottle of water, 1 bottle of P21S all purpose cleaner, Sonus Total Eclipse.

A. Spray the boots with water.

B. Spray the boots with P21S. As you know, P21S is water based and does a great job in cleaning engines parts. This will get all the grime and dirt away without damaging the boot like petroleum based products would overtime.

C. Hose off the boots with water again.

D. Dry them with a rug.

E. Spray the boots with Sonus Total Eclipse or your favorite rubber/plastic protection spray. This will protect from dirt and heat.

I just wanted to get some opinions on this and see what you guys think.

I'm going to try this soon. (Pictures to follow)

Would that 303 Aerospace stuff work well for this, do you think?
