I see that you have an 07 Limited. That car is brand new, so you won't need a fine cut polish and you won't need a swirl remover.

I would go with a Porter, a pad for final polish, final polish bottle, wax and glaze.

The first link only shows the main webpage.

The second kit is $250 or so.

It's really up to you, the Meguiar products are good IMO. (I use some of them),

Which polish did you want to buy from Autogeek? Compare pricing with Meguiar's.

What's wrong with the 760iL? Those are relatively new cars...(Just curious)

I'm not a big fan of the Klasse although it's officially approved by BMW. It's very hard to work with.

Let me know if you need help with any of this.

Good job on the thread, Peleg. I need some help. After I wax my car I use a horsehair brush and microfiber cloth to get all the wax out of the gaps etc, but when it rains there's streaking on the body. It looks like it's coming from the gaps; under the mirrors, rear spoiler, etc. I understand streaking after rain if you haven't removed all the wax but I'm sure I'm getting it all. The streaks won't wash off, I have to strip the wax and re-wax. Ive only had the car about a month and I've had to re wax 3 times. I tried changing waxes to no avail. I can't figure it out, my car is WRB and the streaks are pretty noticeable. What to do, what to do?

Very interesting. Wax is a fatty based product. It belongs to the same family as oil, butter and other like substances. Wax is used to protect the paint from the elements, creating a barrier between your clearcoat and all the junk that flys at your paint when you drive.

Water should bead off the wax, but it shouldn't streak at all.

A few questions:

1. Are you using any polish before the wax and if so, what brand?

2. What brand of wax are you using?

Also, you may want to consider switching to a nylon brush for removing wax residue from these small gaps. I just bought the Cobra detailing brush collection on Autogeek. You get 3 different brushes, check it out.

Ok, finally got to play with the Porter yesterday and the results were amazing, I am now swirl free. I washed with gold glass and then used a white lakeland pad with Megs Step 2 polish (not the best, but it is all that is available local), then used a black pad to takeoff the polish or buff it. Finished by quickly hand waxing using gold glass wax.

Even though I got all the swirls out, the deeper scratches on the hood are still lightly visible. What polish would you recommend for light to medium depth scratches?

Meguiar's # 9 is their official swirl remover.

However, how deep are these scratches? If your finger nail gets stuck in them, they are too deep for polishing and will require wet sanding and painting. You can also try to get some touch up paint.

If they aren't that deep, try # 9 , go with 4" pad instead of the 6" one. This will help you focus the polisher's power on a specific area. You can set it to 5 or 6 power level and see if that works.

Peleg, tomorrow im gonna post pics of my bumper up close. (there's a crack that i'll try to have repaired). the car got hit by road debris one night on the highway and left a rippled effect on the clear. if you can point me out in the right direction how to remove that, i'll love you forever!

Throw them in the washer machine on warm/cold with a tiny amount of detergent.

Dry them on medium.

DO NOT dry them with microfiber towels, it creates a mess.

Well, it depends on the extent of the damage.

Is the clearcoat shot? Meaning, is it cracked?

I'm going to wait for your picture and we'll go from there.
