I just ordered the Porter and it's on its way.

Meanwhile, I gave it a good wash, clay, polish and wax.

I used Meguiars Gold Glass car wash, Mothers Clay, Meguiar's step 2 polish (they don't sell #7 in town) and Meguiars gold glass paste wax (again, no #26). The results where very good considering I only had my hands, I got pretty much all the swirls out, but minor scratches are still there. I'm waiting for the Porter to do the rest. The paint is really excellent now and I only now noticed that it has light green sparkles.

I'd get pics, but after I drove home from the auto club, the car was already covered in dust. Atleast it is protected and sealed with wax now.

I don't have any shade at my place plus they only charge $1 per hour for the wash bay.

Peleg, had my car for almost 2 years and barely drive it. A month after I purchased, I did the whole clay bar + 3M glaze/for new cars, forget the name? + wax + clear bra.

Obviously I cant use the 3M glaze that I used before since the car isn't new, so what Polish/Glaze would you recommend for a car with really minor spider webs?

Is it just me or does dust and dirty seem to stick much easier to the car after waxing?

For polish, I like Meguiar's final polish. Sonus stage 3 is another good one, although it produces tons of residue.

A new glaze I recently tried is the liquid glass and it worked very well.

Dust attracts to the paint because of static.

There are a few ways to deal with that:

1. Get a car cover and keep the car covered when you don't drive it.

2. Get a good quality duster. No need to wash a car again because of dust. Just use the duster and the dust is gone.

Default Wheels

I finally cleaned my wheels last weekend and wanted to add a few tips. I bought my STi back in December and didn't do anything to the wheels when I got it. I sprayed them off a few times to get the Chicago salt off, but they were still caked on filthy. I tried the Dupont wheel cleaner on one wheel and my Eimann Fabrik Hi Intensity Cleaner on the other. I started with a 1:1 ratio and they both worked about the same. They got most of the stuff off, but left the really caked on stuff. I bumped up the ratio to 2:1 and it got all the rough stuff off minus some specs. I switched to a claybar and used the cleaner as a lube. Wa-la, good as new! There is not a speck left on them. I used some Zaino All In One on the inside and out and they shined. I'll add a couple coats of Z2 when I do the rest of the car.

Did you take the wheels off the car?

Did you use a pressure washer?

Just curious.

Yep, they were off, no pressure washer, just a hose. I actually clean the inside first, then the front of the wheel since when I clean the inside, it drips onto the front face of the wheel.

Peleg, thanks for all the good info on this thread.
Yesterday I bought a meguiar's claybar kit and clayed my whole car. Damn the paint is like new again. Wash and wax this weekend to seal it up...

Do you have any suggestions for buffing out scrapes on headlights (round circle scrapes from my car getting egged on Goose Night)? I tried to use the PlasticX but it didn't do much.

You may want to try a more aggressive polish. Are you sure they are scratches?
