Im planning on doing this weekend except my wheels are abou 100 times worse than those due me being at school and i never got to wash it before i left, i would say i havent done a thorough wash in a good 6 months(i kno i kno i just never had the time with work/school) anyways i order the p21s after reading this thread and the directions say for really dirty wheels let it sit for 2 hours, has anyone actually let it sit that long? Even after this if there is still dirt i cant get off whats the next step, my friend told me i can bring it to a detailer and they will acid wash them, i dunno. I just dont want my wheels to be ruined forever, i need to stop being lazy.

been watching this thread for a while now...

glad you have made the switch to meguires...

couple differant methods, really depends on the car.

really bad...

wash
claybar bath
re~wash
#6
#7
#26

and wheel wax 2-3 times a year

i have a rinse bucket that is very large
the soap bucket i use is clear so i can see how duty the water is. Start from the roof, and work my way down, never to do too much of a surface area in one cycle. and i have differant wash mits for the metal and the plastic. the side skirts, and botom of the rear bumper get the old wash mits treatment, lol.

the exhaust gets Heavy metalZ metal polish, and then the meguires polish. and i will use my dremle, if i happen to have the exhaust off the car, lol...

the wheels i use the orange cleaner befor i start washing the car. and then really soapie water and a brush i got in a kit @ costco. and every time i have the wheels off i make sure to get the insides. (cant do it whith the 375mm rotors)

i just use windex on the windows, or the glass cleaner achohol wipes. then RainX on the front.

inside gets the meguires foam dash cleaner.

Everything i wipe is wiped with Microfiber towles, or the air~compressor.

couple detail pictures..

just did a quickie tonight on my buddies BMW.

Befor

after a wash with a micro fiber mit, and some claybar action

after i clayed the car, i did some cleaner wax, and that is it. so 3 out of 7 step process, and this was the result....

and yes, the rims make baby jesus cry

That's some beautiful work there.

I love how the car looks like when I'm done with.

That black looks really awesome!

Default Wheel Repair

Looks like I got too excited with my parking this time. My right front wheel got some rush.

Found this very nice article:

http://www.bmwtips.com/tipsntricks/w...uff-repair.htm

Here is my shopping list:

Duplicolor primer

Wurth Gold laquer

Wurth Clearcoat

240 grit sand paper

600 grit sand paper

Paint thinner

Putty

Does anyone knows where to buy Putty?

I will be posting pictures of this project.

Peleg.

As soon as the weather gets better and the temperature goes over 70 degrees, I'm doing to fix my wheel and a scratch or 2 on the paint.

Stay tuned....

Default AutoGlym Glass Polish

For those of you who experimented with Autoglym, know they make awesome products, like their water based engine degreaser which I use to detail engines.

As for the glass, I do think Stoner glass cleaner is pretty good, however; If you got really stubborn residue on your glass and it bugs the hell out of you when you drive, it's time to bring out the big guns: glass polish.

It looks just like paint polish.

I've tried the Autoglym glass polish and it works very well. You can also use it on the inside of the glass.

If you have tinted windows, I would check with retailer first before you use this product

The only downfalls of this glass polish is the annoying residue it leaves, so take the car for a short drive when you're done.

It's not cheap!

Next I'm going to test a new brand, they actually have their own website and magazine that they send me, they are called Griot's. I'm going to try their glass polish to see how it measures against Autoglym.

If you'd like to take your glass to the next level, claybar it first, dry it and then apply this polish.

Default Liquid Glass

http://www.liquidglass.com

I was shopping for new pads for my porter and came accross this product. Its got great reviews on autogeek and on amazon.

It supposably creates a layer on top of the clearcoat (that is safe for all paints and clearcoats ofcourse) and protects the paint. It also promises awesome shine that will beat the wax. (that's a pretty bold promise against the Meguiar's #26, so this product better deliver)

Could this be the answer to the Subaru "this paint chips after 3 days"?

$14.99 for 8oz, this isn't cheap so I ordered 1 can of it. More on this product next week as I put it to the test.

here are a few pics of my TL that I found on my computer from this past summer.....

Process:

Wheels
Wash
Clay
Wash
Dry
Buff (Milwaukee Orbital)
- I found out after a few times with the orbital that with black, it is quite hard to aviod holograming/buffer swirls from showing up after the first wash, so I just actually sold my Milwaukee and plan on picking up a PC.....

Anyways, Enjoy!!

and this is what it looked like a few weeks ago (and today again...stupid snow)

and last week.....

It's gonna need a lot of work this summer to get back up to par.....

I've never really detailed a car before... just the wash and quick hand wax. Once the weather gets a little better here in Mass, I'm going to give it a shot Peleg's stype I'll be sure to take lots of pics.
