Yea i plan to go as light as possible and then compound/polish after. Should I aim to very slowly make the newly painted surface smooth with the current paint? Or should i get it close and then apply the compound. Any pics on how yours came out?

thanks, its a very nerve racking procedure =X

Windex and Newspaper has done it for me since I was a kid. =)

Have yet to do it on my STi, but I believe that's the route I'll take unless the Mad Scientist proves me wrong.

...and I'm hoping you'd prove me wrong soon, my windows are getting kinda dirty!!!

for the wheels are all those cleaners like "wheel wax" fake? they claim to change the polarity of the wheels so that brake dust will be reppelled rather than attracted. any thoughts?

I've been testing the real "Wheel Wax" against Megs NTX. Neither product really prevents the build up of dust when its coming off the Brembos. On the family minivan the dust is notibly lessened. For the STI the value is not in the prevention of build up but in the ease of release. When wax is applied the dust can be removed easily with long soft bristtled brush. Last time I washed the wheels I timed each wheel for reference. After wetting down the wheel with water, each wheel was completely cleaned in 1 minute and 50 seconds. This was a single pass with a long soft brustled brush, followed by a single pass with a micro fiber towel on all surfaces.

Wheel Wax seems to work about as good as the NTX. However it's a lot easier to apply and remove so the nod goes to WW for ease of use. Next up on the test bench is Klasse AIO and SG.

I would highly recommand STAYING AWAY from Windex. It contains Amonia, too harsh and leaves residue and streaks.

It's even worse with tinted windows, if you are using windex on your tinted windows get ready to kiss your tint job goodbye.

If you ever see tinted windows with bubbles, you can bet windex was used.

What I do recommand is stoner invisible glass with a good microfiber towel. Don't use newspaper, those leave fibers and such.

I like P21S wheel cleaner and hot water.

Another good one is Meguiar's hot wheels.

I tried Wheel Wax and found it to work no better than a good cleaner wax. It's better than nothing, but if you have wax you use on your car, just use that. I use Klasse AIO and SG(multiple coats) on my wheels, inside and out, before I put them on for the season.

Regarding tinted windows, I use only Plexus on the tint. I use Invisible Glass on the window glass but would not use it on the tint. Oh yeah, and RainX on the outside of the windows after I clean them.

I used some sort of wheel finish on my wheels.

1. It was a PITA x 10 to apply it on the stock STi wheels.

2. I didn't notice anything different when I had to clean them the next time.

Is anybody using some sort of wax spray on the wheels?
