I bought a water blade... used it for about 10 seconds and never used it again. The sound that thing makes going across the paint scared the crap out of me. Couldn't put myself to use it on the car ever again.

Microfiber rocks...It holds 8 times its weight in water and due to the construction of the fibers the dirt and dust is actually pulled into the towel and away from your finish...

Plus I have a great supplier.....

Im on both.
For drying I use a Microfiber Waffle Weave from www.autogeek.net or www.premiumautocare.com For polishing, I use a Cobra microfiber from Autogeek.
Wow, guess I'm guilty of also using the "Absorber" on my cars for the last 10 years or so. I've always been extremely careful of washing the Absorber inbetween washes to avoid possibly causing new swirls on my paint from trapped dirt, so it's never been much of an issue, BUT, I'm always up for something new!

I was wondering if you could give your advice on some paint care products you use. On the STi, being that it's silver, I'm not AS eager with what I use. Silver seems to be the absolute easiest color to maintain, but my Grand National...that's another story. I currently use this stuff: http://www.ppstechnology.com/products1.htm and the results have just been amazing! But the price is $85/application. It's a 2 step process and the actual PPS product is not a real wax....it applies some sort of teflon sealant to the car. The 2nd and final step in the process also TOTALLY removes almost 100% of all fine swirls...simple UNBELIEVABLE!!! When I took my GN to the most recent Buick meet, people were all over themselves over the appearance of the car, so I'm looking for somewhat the same results, but perhaps at a cheaper price...also, something that can be applied by HAND..I do NOT like buffers!

I'm liable to pound you with questions concerning car care 'cause I love the subject!!!

I would recommend Poorboys..not pricey at all, and they sell my favorite wax: Nattys/Nattys blue. Thier products are great.
I would give SSR 2 then Polish w/carnuba (blue) then EX then Nattys Blue

How is all that with swirl marks. I swear, black paint sucks...you can scoot right up on it, FART and leave blasted swirl marks...!

if youre doing it by hand..it doesnt matter what polish you use, you wont get rid of them all. But with that stuff you should be able to get rid of a lot of them

+1 for the microfiber waffle towel thing...

they come in these stink ugly colors like purple and such and they fade after a season of use. You can get them at target and they are pretty cheap. Plus, unlike the chamois you can wash it in the washing machine (make sure it gets rinsed properly).

I recommend against the artificial chamois...i've had them start to crumble on me after only a few washes/drys...then i'm left to clean up little yellow crap on the car.

Make sure you don't use fabric softener when you wash/dry your microfibers. It clogs the fibers and results in less absorbtion.
