Default 6 hours of cleaning...

...just the rims. Yes I just spent 6 straight hours cleaning my rims. They are just one huge PITA to clean. Anyways, I took them off the car, hooked up my pressure washer, sprayed them with some Meguire's Wheel Cleaner and then sprayed off with pressure washer. That gets a good amount of the brake dust off, but then pahse two is WD-40 and a lot a lot of scrubbing (however I must say WD-40 works like a f'ing champ on the brake dust deposits). Then I waxed each rim iwth Mother's MAG Polish. Lets just say my hands/fingers have lost all sensation and I feel like I just worked a 10 hour day. However, the end results just makes me want to cry it's so beautiful.

By the way I had not cleaned my rims in like 4 weeks.

Before:

After:

Normally I take really crappy pictures, but I managed to take a pretty cool one that doesn't look half bad:

I still have little black dots of brake dust that I can't get out. I figured if they survived my 6 hours of scrubbing then I might as well consider them permanent.

Yea I dunno, i'm a bit of a perfectionist so I will sit there and nit pick every last detail. Only problem is they still are far from perfect. Plus since this was my first time I was trying to figure out the best way to clean them, and I tried some other things before I got a final method down. I should also mention I fully cleaned/polished the insides too (including all the places no one can even see when the rims are on ). Next time I do a full clean I don't plan to take nearly as long, but i'm still dreading the next time. Hell i'm afraid to even drive the car now for fear of seeing them dirty.

Ah, don't let anyone take away all your hard work. It takes a lot of dedication to put six hours into cleaning your wheels.

But IMHO, that shouldn't prevent you from fully enjoying the performance abilities of an STi!!

Perhaps you should looking into some aftermarket wheels.

Like these... (less spokes and they are wider apart )

Cheers!

Try these, it takes 10 min to clean all four!

Don't feel bad about being a perfectionist, it's a desease... I too polish inside wheel wells, buff all suspension components and practically everything I can reach, everytime I change wheels for the track.
Oh yes, I also skip over all pavement cracks, wash my hands 50 times a day, and do not answer the doorbell, because THEY are coming to get me...

Hawaii_guy, I have always loved the Rays, aren't they very light/performance rims too? If so do thoose bad boys come in 17x8? I would definatley love a set of them.

Yes, they are very light, high performance wheels.

As far as the sizes, Volks offer a huge line of sizes, diameter/width/offset's.

Although, as I'm sure you know, Volks carry a high price tag. But most will tell you, if they could afford it, they'd buy it. I know I would...

Check the Vendor Clasifieds, Wheel/Tires forum. Don't forget about NASOIC:

Sheesh, those look beautiful. I wouldn't put 'em back on the car at all anymore if I spent 6 hours. Nice pics.
