X2

Automatic car washes were made by someone that hates cars.

Straight from the 05 STI Owners Reference Guide...

"...some car-wash machines may damage the spoiler or the body. Please wash your car carefully, and be sure to follow the instructions..."

Only hand washing for me!

Before this thread turns into a free-for-all, I'm just going to ask you guys one question.

How the hell does a "car wash" thread turn into a battle royal?

No problems! But i think it can be an insult sometimes when people feel the need to include someones ethnicity in a story when it's not necessary! Especially when talking about a car wash.

For those in cold climates, the automatic car washes where you stop in the stall, and the sprayer carriage rotates around the car is probably the most convenient and reasonable alternative. yes, you end up with a crappy wash because the nozzles on the carriage are usually too far away (remember, most americans drive huge a$$ SUV's), but by the same token, it's less likely to cause any damage. Besides, during the cold season, the real goal is to get that damn salt and sand off the car to protect it and make it last longer. I think getting the car spotless during a midwest winter is kind of pointless otherwise.

I used to live in northern IL, very glad to be back in los angeles
