It's the water that makes 'em rust. Mine do it even when I just wash the car. Stuff won't hurt the breaks or the wheels. I usually clean the hell outta the wheels with the Hot Rims, then put a thin coat of the NXT Tech Wax on them. Works great and it's uber-cheap and it lasts for quite a while. Makes the wheels look great and the dust is a bunch easier to get off next go round. I may have to give that Michelin "Brake dust repellant" a shot. Can't hurt.

You can find the P21S online at properautocare.com or autopia-carcare.com. It is pretty expensive but very well worth it imho.

I actually dont bother with a specific wheel cleaner. I just use the same cleaner that I use to wash the car.

Update.....

After reading everyone's stuff I was going to go out and buy the P21S...unitl tonight. I'm going to Tampa tommorrow for the weekend and I decided on the whim to go to one of these self service car washes. Anyways they had a tire/wheel cleaning button. It spit out this pink liquid from this preasure washer wand. Mind you this pink fluid only spray 4 to 5 inches, so basically no pressure behind it. Anyways, this stuff just took it all away in one shot. It did everything, it cleaned inside the areas where the lug nuts are and behind the rotors. It was a miracle in my eyes. After I did each tire I hit the rinse button and washed them cleaned. Brand new look all over again. Overall, it took $1.75, 2 minutes and changed my mind on cleaning my rims again. I'm never going spend another 45 minutes washing them by hand in this Florida sun again.
