Default Review: Zaino Z8 Detail Spray

I was picking up some Z6 from my local Zaino distributor and he showed me this new product from Zaino called Z8. It apparently contains some polymer-based wax (probably a Z2 Pro derivative) and is meant as a quick detail spray. At $31cdn it isn't exactly cheap, but since I'm a detailing nut I forked over the cash and figured what the heck.

All I can say is wow and WOW. This product is amazing! I finished washing the car, dried it, and ran my finger over the surface. The surface felt clean but squeaky and not slick. I sprayed a fine mist of Z8 on the surface (roof) and buffed it dry (very easy to apply). I ran my finger over the surface again and to my amazement, it felt as though I had waxed the car with Z2 Pro...it was THAT slick. The surface was almost perfectly reflective, once again almost as though I had waxed it.

I've been a Z6 detail spray nut for a long time now. Z6 is a great product for removing light dust, repelling dust, and giving the car that extra deep wet look after wax. Z8 absolutely destroys Z6. Z6 is good but it definitely requires a layer of Z2 first before it can "do its thing". Z8 on the other hand is almost like a wax spray/detailer. I can only imagine how awesome the car is going to look after I put some Z2 on it and then add a layer of Z8.

Now, at $31cdn / bottle, I won't be using this as frequently as Z6, but I honestly don't think I will have to. If Z8 truly does contain some Z2, the detail finish should last at least a few weeks.

If you are a detail nut or just want a quick way to semi-wax your car without all the drying and buffing, pickup on Z8. It is a fantastic product!

Thanks for the review!
You think it'd work on wheels too to help repel brake dust?
I was thinking of Rejex, ($19.99 + txs here in BC).

That's exactly what I'm going to try. I hate waxing the BBS wheels but this spray might be the perfect thing. I don't know how long it will last...I guess it depends on the weather, heat from the brakes, etc. Either way, I'm sure it can't hurt...just don't get any on your rotors.

Also, if you do go with Z8, you only need a few drops. I typically turn the spray nozzle until it just starts to squirt. You don't need a lot of this stuff.

Yep, that Z8 stuff is pretty good. The problem with Z8 (and the rest of the Zaino product line) is that it's expensive. I bet it costs pennies to produce (because it's mostly water). Kind of like the clay bar rip off. A clay bar probably costs 20-40 cents.

I wonder how hard it would be to make your own detail products.
