I don't know how anal the rest of you are about keeping your cars looking perfect, but perhaps I took it a bit too far this time. I covered all the black trim with painters tape so that I could wax the hell out of the car without messing up the black trim pieces (wax never comes off that black trim!).

If you think this is bad I know people that cover the front end of their cars with painters tape for road trip. Car care, like modding, is an incurable illness.

The one spot that specially annoys me, is the trim between the roof and the rear window, I always get dried wax spots there

Off Topic, but has that celica ever had a run in with a bridge? Looks familiar.

Heh. Yeah, that was a fun rally. We were even doing pretty well until the turbo blew.

Default RE: Need help to choose between those 2 setups

Wax in cracks, emblems, trim? I hate that too. Ever try this carnuba wax called Formula113?

I've been using this stuff for about 2 monthes now. This wax dries clear, leaves no powdery residue, and is real easy to use. The bottle says you can even use it in the hot sun without caking. Since I have the Llumar paint protection film on my 04 Sti, I really hated using the typical waxes. Typical waxes would build up along the Llumar edge (essentially accentuating that transition point). It was noticeable on my 04 wrb STi and much more noticeable on my other black car (also has Llumar).

Have to warn you though, Formula113 is not cheap and the carnuba tends not to last as long as the synthetic or polymer waxes. But, it saves me lots of time and it's high-end stuff. I know that there's a strong following of users of this stuff (car collector and car show guys on the east coast). The website is www.formula113.com

I try Mother's Back-To-Black and it not only removes wax, but makes those plastic pieces look like new again with a semi-gloss luster. $4.99 at your local auto parts store.

Try Zaino or Meguiars NXT, they dont dry white. Other than that just be careful where you wax.

Awesome stuff. It's amazing how much more new your car looks after using it on all the black trim pieces.

Default Interest and $$$ for full Ti springs??

Souveran doesn't seem to stain, not worth the cost for silver though.

I prep my car the same way (blue painter's tape) before I wax.
