Default Cleaning Question(Obviously)

I'm trying to find out whats the best way/products to clean my engine bay and also my headliner. My headliner has a couple of marks on it and I'm thinking about taking it out and either giving it a good cleaning or just re-doing it with some blue cloth to match the interior. I've heard alot of ppl talking about "Don't use a pressure washer on your engine" then some ppl say its alright, and now I'm really confused lol. So if anyone has an idea of a great method of cleaning the engine bay(include what products you used please) and also what to use(cleaner, type of cloth and/or cleaning gizmo) you use to clean your headliner/interior of the car I would really apriciate any info you guys could give me. Thanks in advance.

Should I use Simple Green Max Pro on my engine? There seems to be a lot of people who say it works very well on the engine, tranny, etc. Also what should I cover up under the hood while I'm washing it, because I would imagine not everything LOVES to get sprayed with water under there.

i use simple green or orange type cleaner. be very sparse with the use of it. you can wipe some areas down with a rag too. I always cover my battery and alternator with plastic bags. when hosing off the motor just use a light mist and let things dry a bit before you fire her up.

as far as the headliner, im not really sure what would be best to use for that. my guess would be an upholstery spray and then vacuum it off with a soft bristle attachment

I use a commercial product called SLAM. I dilute it with water 50/50 & spray it. It cuts grease very well and loosens dirt. I don't use a pressure washer cuz I don't want to risk it. I do stongly recommend an air compressor. Use the air hose to blow off all water off electrical components. Works great for me every time.
