Default Removing Badges

I own a 2008 sti and would like to remove as many badges as possible. What is the friendlest and easiest way to remove badges from my STi. I figure I should remove the badges as soon as possible before the color changes from UV exposure

I found Goo Gone's sticker/decal remover works really well. It even comes with a nice little plastic scraper that isn't abrasive to the clearcoat.

Use a hair dryer to warm up and soften the adhesive 1st. Using fishing line helps to remove the emblems from paint w/o scratching as long as you KEEP the adhesive hot and soft. Then follow with googone than paint cleaner/polish and wax quickly after. I say quickly because of the thin paint/clearcoat. No need to run around though. Easy.

^ And if you don't have fishing line, dental floss works just as good.

In addition to what never ending mods said, after you heated up the badge and have taken it off, apply Goo Gone and/or Bug and Tar remover and then be sure to heat up the adhesive again to make it easier to get rid of the adhesive.

...I just realized you posted this about 30 days ago and you probably already did it but I am going to post this anyway since I typed it all out.

I just pulled the badges off my Wife's 08 Tribeca. Just leave it out in the sun for an hour. I didnt fool around w/line, I just wrapped a pair of pliars jaws w/tape, gripped the badges w/the jaws (away from the paint) & just slowly pulled away from the car (straight away from the car to avoid contact wthe emblem & paint). The emblems all came off easily & took the adhesive w/them. Just take it slow & the adhesive should pull away from the paint & stay attached to the emblems. No mess & just wiped it over w/a damp cloth & dried.

You got lucky... pulling badges away from the paint with pliers can easily rip the paint from the prime. I do not recommend doing this. A safer way to remove badges - heat the badge (and underlying sealant) with a heat gun and use floss to remove. Fishing wire works great (and will note tear like floss) but will scratch the paint if it comes into contact with it (even with high test line). The heat gun and floss method is time consuming but extremely safe. After removal, remove any remaining sealant with clay lube and a clay bar... finish with the sealant/wax of your choice and enjoy.

The adhesive he is referring to is the gooey stuff behind the emblems. It hs to be heated up enough for it to be easy to take off. The goo-gone is the liquid that help take off the adhesive.

No, they are referring to the original 'glue' (=adhesive) which Subaru used to attach the badges in the first place. The Goo-Gone and similar are products used to clean up any remaining adhesive where the badge was, once you get the badge off.

The adhesive is the glue that holds the letters to the trunk.

I used a hairdryer and dental floss to get mine off. Once they were off and sprayed the leftover adhesive with WD-40 and then heated it with the hairdryer and once you get it hot enough, it will almost peel right off.

BTW, I used that flat tape-like floss and that stuff broke 2-3x per letter. I recommend using the older rounded floss.

Do not do this^^. 06grip is right on. Asking for trouble using any type of plier or screw driver to pry. Just heat them up w/hair dryer and use fishing line or dental floss like the rest of us stated. No risk to body work that way. Very easy.
