Default I need some advice...

Hey everyone, I am about to head off to college and I am leaving my car at home since the parking spots are about 2 feet wide and we can't have them there anyway. So, I just bought a NOAH car cover and the lock. I don't have a garage but i'll be able to come home every couple of months when our coach lets us. Will the car be ok since it will not be able to be driven by anyone and is there anything else I should know before I leave? Sorry I sound like a noob but I just wanted to see what other people have to say. Thanks!

You might think about renting a storage unit and parking the car inside.

But if you're forced to park the car outside, you might try to make arrangements with someone to drive the car occasionally and keep it clean under the cover.

One of the problems with extended storage is rodents. Try a google search and see what you find about long-term storage.

If you're not going to be able to take care of the car while you're away at school, it might make sense to sell it.

I will only be gone for the first year and I can get someone to drive it every now and then, I just dont like the fact of someone driving my car but it does make sense. How much will it cost to store the car somewhere? Thanks for the input Gary!

Check your local yellow pages or the internet for storage spaces.

I can rent a 10' x 20' storage space for roughly $89 a month here in Omaha. Your pricing would probably be within $15 or $20 of that price. I prepay for a year and that entitles me to a 10% discount bring my net down to $80 a month.

Spending $1,000 for storage and not having to worry about the car being outside or about someone else driving it, may be cost-beneficial to you.

Do a google search for automobiel long term storage tips and you should find quite a bit of information.

I dont think it is good for the car not to be run for a long period of time. I highly suggest finding someone alteast starting up the car every couple weeks. As for the car cover, it should be fine, rodents might be a problem
