Default is a clay bar just... clay? ha

Im probably gonna get bashed for asking this but is a clay bar just ordinary clay? If so why would you just get cheaper stuff from a store or something. If not, what is the difference?

I think what you'll find is that automotive clay for paint has been specifically formulated for that application. It will have certain properties that make it just right for its intended use.

On the other modeling clay and other types of clay aren't formulated for that application and wouldn't work very well.

But you can always pick up some modeling clay or pottery clay and see what happens.

Regular clay is diluted by water. It will turn into a wet sanding session

A "claybar" is actually not made out of clay. It is made out of a special type of plastic mixed with other materials. Supposedly real clay will work, but I would not try it.

claybar is made by a limited number of factory in the world. I think it is about 2 or 3. So they are all pretty much the same.
