Default Is my porter cable broken?

I tried using my PC 7335 (same as 7424) with the Edge 2000 double sided pads and the damn thing is killing my left hand from holding onto the black side handle after only doing my hood. I had to take a break. At this rate it would be fast to do the polishing by hand and not have a numb left hand. The pads are reversible and use a quick connect adapter on the PC if you are not familiar with them. They are 6" pads so I used a 6" counterweight. It hurt like hell so I tried the 5" counterweight since the backing plate of the pads is built in to the pad and may be smaller then 6". No difference in vibration, maybe even a little worse then with the 6" counterweight.

Is my porter cable broken or do I just have sensitive girly hands? Seriously though is my machine broken. Does this thing really vibrate that much at speed 5 for swirl removal/polish?

Default Re: Is my porter cable broken?

are you holding it too tight? i noticed if i back off my grip pressure its a little easier on my hands. also, be conscious of how long you are using it... perhaps your hand hurts becuase you were holding it for a few hours. and of course thats not natural. typically it vibrates a good amount but not enough to really hurt me, but ive gotten used to the way it moves and all. sorry if im not much help.

perhaps get a video of it and we can see better what its doing.
