Default getting wax out of paint chips

sorry if this has been answered before, my search yielded no results.

I had the bad idea of waxing my car the other day, and as typical subaru, my hood has a lot of tiny paint chips, some big some small. The hood was warm and the wax dried real fast. I got rid of most of the wax just fine, but quite a few of the paint chips now hold tiny amounts of yellowish/white wax which makes them REALLY stand out, as supposed to before they would just blend in because weren't too deep.

somebody tood me to use q-tips and get it off, but isn't there some wax remover liquid or something that'll just dissolve it? thanks.

problem is, if you use remover, you remove all the wax on your hood.

dishwashing soap works for that if you really want to

I may try that. I'll remove the wax if I have to and just stay away from the front quarter of the hood which is where the chips are. Maybe I'll use that liquid wax for that part.

You can use rubbing alcohol on a q-tip. Then I would rewax the car in the shade! You need something protecting the paint. Also do a search on clay baring the car. I will be doing this to my car, it had amazing results.

you need to use touch up paint on the paint chips. if they are down to the metal (Al), it will corrode. in the case of chips on the rest of the car, it will rust.

it's just the aluminum hood that hass them. But, yeah I am planning on buying some touchup paint. I gotta get them clean first. A lot of them are in the plastic bumper too. I'm not going to touch paint the bumper, so I just want it clean of wax because they (chips) never used to show...until the wax got into them.

it's almost an impossible game to win given our cars have stupidly thin paint and in the winter rock salt combined with sand makes it impossible to avoid.

if you get wax down in the chips and you want to get it out... try a product called Wax Blaster... its always worked pretty well for me. it has a foam applicator tip but for small chips id recommend wetting a Qtip with the solution and getting it out that way.
